Oooo, Aidan will be starting high school this year. I bet the teachers at the high school will be like " It's that kid from Britains Got Talent".

He's first year, started in September. Year 7 = 11/12.

I'm sure they'll knock him down a peg or two if he starts... if he was one of mine and he was messing up, i'd just make him breakdance or something in front of the class just for the laugh (or asking him all the hard questions to quieten him down).

I don't understand how that works then. I thought down in England it was Year 1 = first year at primary school, Year 7 = seventh year of primary school and then Year 8 would be the first year of high school (11/12)? See, it's so much easier in Scotland because we just do Primary 1 - Primary 7 and then 1st year - 6th year for high school.

Makes more sense but then I don't get your system much!

Primary:
Y1 = 5-6
Y2 = 6-7
Y3 = 7-8
Y4 = 8-9
Y5 = 9-10
Y6 = 10-11

Secondary:
Y7 = 11-12
Y8 = 12-13
Y9 = 13-14 (you normally pick GCSEs in Y9)
Y10 = 14-15 (first year of GCSEs)
Y11 = 15-16 (second year of GCSEs and you can leave at the end of it)
then some do A-levels in school
Y12 = Lower Sixth (a vestige of when Y7 was first year, still is in independent schools really, we called our Y7s first years) 16-17
Y13 = Upper Sixth - 17-18

The cut off is September 1st so the current Year 7 is born between 1st September 1996 and 31st August 1997 (jeez, they sound young ).

But that must mean pupils only get six years of primary school? Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6?

Yes, only six years but I guess it doesn't matter how it's divided - some areas have middle school (usually this is about 8-13) - because it's all cumulative.

He looks a lot younger than secondary school age, he looks about 9, seriously but then some year 7s do look a bit young. I guess you're used to secondary school kids looking a year older than he is as well... :s

Seems like after you've done this it's one hell of a come down, especially for the kids... on TV one day, and 36 hours later back at school, what a contrast. And for others, back to the day job

I don't think his face is really *that* young, but it was just his stature that makes him seem like he's much younger than he is. I remember when him and Natalie ran out of the "results" room on the reveal show together and they both look like teensy. However he has the maturity, courage and intelligence of a much-older-than-12-year-old person and i'm sure he'll grow pretty quickly anyway.

Yeah, it must be a bit crushing. I know i'd be gutted if I was on TV with Simon Cowell and Ant and Dec on the Saturday night and then sitting in a classroom on the Monday morning doing Maths. Eesh. Still, i'm sure he'll still be getting attention at school, online and most likely everywhere he goes until the BGT hype dies down. Plus he has the tour coming up, anyway.

Yes, classic example of him looking a lot younger than he really is, and acting a lot older than he really is. By far the better way round.

He'll be getting attention no doubt, he probably would anyway because he seems pleasant and normal, looks the sort who would be popular with his classmates. Not sure he'd necessarily want it though, I would imagine getting recognised in the street all the time would get a bit tiresome, he probably can't walk around now without hearing "hey aidan" or "aren't you that dancer kid on tv" or something, must be a bit boring, it would annoy me.

Yep, btw Elliot Evans is about the same age as Aidan and he went and had a bit of a dig at Hollie on Facebook. I doubt Aidan (if he was in Elliot's position) would do something like that.


Really? I'd enjoy it. I probably wouldn't mind if I was like, walking to the shop or something with no plans but if I was out with family or friends and I was getting stalked by fans i'd end up going nuts. (don't get any ideas, Aidan ) The attention is bound to fade away anyway after the tour so he should lap it up while he still can.

Elliot's a year 8, so about a year older, and dare I say Aidan is more grown up. It's a bit of a childish comment, probably jealous because Hollie is a better singer.

I hope he does stay grounded, i don't think we'll hear too much of him right now, maybe in the future, i kinda want to learn to dance properly now, not body popping *eek*, but, street dance kinda thing haha.

The first year at school - after nursery - is called Reception (4-5 years olds), so they do get 7 years at primary school. Most children do start then, but year 1 (5-6 year olds) is when they officially HAVE to be in school by law (unless home schooling). Some parents of children who have just gone 4 in the July/august feel they are too young to start full time school so opt out for that Reception year.

I'm sure Faryl and Andrew toured last year.

Yep, I think Aidan will definately go on tour. I'm pretty sure all finalists (plus a few of the semi-finalists) go on tour, so I have no doubt Aidan will be appearing. I'd love to go and watch everyone live but I have no money and nobody would go with me anyway.

Lol, I think all his fan girls (sorry, it does sound a bit rude and stereotypical, I know not all young teenage girls are "omg aidan u iz fit!!" and some are very mature) are on his Bebo and Facebook groups! Suprisingly, he isn't getting too much comments on the groups. And I hope that he has his Facebook account on private, too.

Can you even join that at 12 (legitimately)? I wouldn't want a boy of 12 on there to be honest.

You're not supposed to, really, the minimum age is 16 I think but I know plenty of young kids around here who have Bebo, MySpace, Facebook the lot.

(I actually posted a comment on one of the Facebook groups saying that Aidan's profile had been tagged on a picture, and thus the profile was available for fans to see, the picture with the tag has now been removed. I don't think much people are aware he even has a FB account, which is good.)

He shouldn't be on, it's 13, I checked. But heh. Probably best if he isn't on there though... I wouldn't want my child (well, if i had any) to be on there at that age.

It's not that bad - it's a private profile and he doesn't need to accept anyone he doesn't want to. It's probably just for family and close friends.

However I probably wouldn't want my kid if I had one on it either.....

People will be looking for him though (you are, and I guess you're not alone). I'm actually not on any of them (just twitter and I don't use that much!).

People won't find the profile. I only came across it because it was tagged in a picture. I did a search for him after the tag got removed and I went through about a gazillion pages and he wasn't there. However I sent a message before the tag got removed so I still have the profile in my Sentbox.

Oh cool, i got in BGT until this year, the Susan hype got me into it, then the laughable auditions with the amazing talant, Holly, Aiden, Susan, etc....

I was such a fangirl, it does seem sterotyoical, i guess some are very mature, but when i was 12, ahh a decade ago haha, man, Leo Dicaprio, Westlife, Orlando Bloom hehehe..i really was a fan girl

Not sure of i would go to see them, i'd get bored of some of the acts LOL...also it probably costs too much.

I have seen a lot of Aiden is fit by what seem like older women, which...creeps me out slightly lol, i hope his Facebook is private too, i mean if i were on BGT i would private mine, but imagine all the friend requests you would get, what a nightmare lol, i mean i assume thousands
