Humax HDR drive size
Hi Bob,
I'm happy to pay a premium for a premium product, but I think a 320gig drive on a HD recorder is a little low. I think humax even offer their freeview recorders with 320 gig drives. Is the freesat HDR going to see a drive size increase any time soon, or maybe the launch a different model with a larger drive. This would save lots of customers having to upgrade the unit themselves and throwing away the 320 gig drive. After all drive prices must have dropped since the HDR launch so should not be an impossible option. |

John Lewis is apparently selling a Freeview PVR with a 500 GB drive for around £ 249 compared to £ 194 for the 320 GB version. HumaxDirect are also selling both models and cheaper. So it looks good that a Freesat model with a larger HDD may be on the market soon.

You only need the internal drive for recordings. You can archive to USB drives of any size. (Is this true of HD recordings?)

You're right, it needs a 1Tb drive as an option or even standard. I filled my standard drive in 2 months with films I didn't want to delete.
My 1TB drive constantly hovers around 40% full which is great. Plenty of room for some more films / HD whilst leaving room for ordinary day to day recordings that are subsequently deleted. |
