Yeah I got it. I think its good. Definitely shows off Ems skills as a lyricist, especially on 3AM. I'm hooked on Beautiful at the moment (playing it on repeat!), Em gets all heartfelt on that one. Deja Vu is another one of the more "emotionally deeper" tracks. There's a song about his mum (yes another one!) There's also the brilliant and hilarious Mariah Carey dis song Bagpipes from Baghdad.

Its less encore more marshal mathers Lp, which is always a good thing.
Its lyrically sound and dre's production is also excellent.

Love bagpipes too tom. My favs right now are Hello, Must Be the Ganja and Beautiful

I have to disagree I think its his worst album so far. Bagpipes for Baghdad and Medicine Ball are brilliant but the rest of it is weak and doesn't have many stand out tracks, the Dr Dre production is tired and repetitive and Ems lyrics aren't as sharp. at least with Encore there were catchy individual songs. all these songs seem to filter into one.

£5.97 on tesco online. Reports ive read online is that a lot of stores had sold out by mid afternoon today and some other shelves were nearly completed cleared! Looks a dead set for number 1 on sunday.

Much better than Encore. Not as good as Marshall Mathers but more on the same level as The Eminem Show.

According to first midweek charts it sold 63k yesterday. That's very good. Should do 150k to 200k by Sunday unless it's sales are very frony-loaded.

Relapse is a terrible album. Eminem really let him self down with this. The worst album hes ever made. It depends if you like his pop rap or other stuff as this is a mostly pop rap album.

Just listened to it on spotify - thought it was pretty good on first listen, maybe a little long at 20 songs but still good.

Does anyone know who plays Dr West? It sounds a bit like Steve Coogan - but probably isn't.

Apparantly sold 64k yesterday alone here in the UK. One store in the US (Best Buy) is reporting sales of 300,000 by the end of the week.

Dominic West (that's why the character is 'Dr West'...).

It's a pretty decent album, and at least thank f**k it doesn't have crap like Sick on it, but there's still too much of his stupid voices. He only really goes for it in his 'own' voice on the last track, Underground, which I'm guessing is kind of deliberate.

This is the first part of a 2 album thing though. Relapse part 2, or whatever it will be called, is out towards the end of the year supposedly. I'm hoping it's a bit more serious. I like the humour but sometimes it feels he doesn't have anything genuine to say at all.

Did you listen to the album?

Other than a couple of tracks its a full blown horrorcore album

If anything this album is for real hip hop heads and fans of amazing lyricism.

He's spitting for the hell of it and at times it's quite brilliant, if unbelievably hardcore.

For me it's in the same league as his first two albums, and better than TES and Encore (which was sh*t and actually was pop rap)

WOW! I never knew that. So Jimmy McNulty is played by an Englishman.

I actually like the voices Em uses myself, its kind of like a trademark of his.

Didn't know there would be a second Relapse either. Though he did drop two cd's on Steve Bermans desk. Love those skits. Hilarious.

I can sort of agree with your last point. It's just that I can only compare Relapse to The Marshall Mathers LP and Encore as they are the only other Em albums I have listened to in their entirety.

Relapse is certainly better than Encore (which I didnt think was that bad!) and is definitely on a par with The MM LP. There are some amazing lyrics on Relapse, especially on 3AM. He goes all out on that one.
