As the DTG site carries news of a firmware update for it and apparently ONLY for this week...

Model: "Panasonic DMR-XS350EB \r\nDMR-XS450EB"
Version: V0002 N
from 18-05-2009 to 22-05-2009

http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

It's the Freesat twin tuner + 250GB HD + Blu-ray drive model for around £600-650.

Slight correction, the XS350 is the DVD version, not Blu-Ray

Panasonic still say June, so not sure what that is about

Pretty much the same box has already been released in France and Australia for a about 6 months now so not surprising there is a firmware update.

Presumably it's the developers testing that it'll download a software update ok in the real world.

Hope they try it with just one LNB connection too.

Ooops sorry for raising hopes of Blu-ray for that price - I stupidly believed the first couple of websites I looked at.

And I can't see the "freesat" logo on the Panasonic UK website either - they give more prominence to "compatible with Freeview+" though I can't see any mention of the relevant tuner for that so think their pages are RATHER iffy - maybe because it just says "DMR-XS350" rather than any suffix letters and maybe because they are still not released...

Freesat logo is there, it is the furthest left on the right hand side.

That is an error, it doesn't have Freeview tuners built in at all.

OK - so it is out now, and received a good "Which" write up.
Lowest price seen for the DMR-XS350 (EB indicates "UK") was £399.99.
Currently running on Software v? (How do you find out?).
It only has EPG for freesat channels. (Why not for other satellite channels?)
BBC HD + occasional ITV HD (via red button only)
Recording both ways between Hard Disc and CD/DVD
plus the usual PVR 'pause live TV' & 'series record'
It has LAN connection for Broadband services and also SD card and USB connections.

Early days, I've not leaned how to really drive it yet! So far some bonuses and some niggles.
