Mobile broadband stick on laptop - bzzzz!
I've recently bought a mobile broadband USB stick from Vodafone (model number K3565), which works a treat.
However, when it's plugged into my aging Toshiba Portege 3440CT laptop (aging being an understatement), the speakers on the front of the computer emit the loudest and most awful buzzing noise. It's the noise you always get if you put your mobile phone near a speaker, but because the stick is plugged right into the computer it's unbearably loud. It doesn't do it when connected to 3G, only GPRS, but that's most of the time round here. The stick comes with a little USB extension lead, so you can plug in and position it away from the computer to quieten down the infernal buzzing, but it doesn't do away with it completely and it's a bit awkward to have a wire trailing around. Turning the volume up and down on the laptop doesn't affect it. Does anyone have a trick to stop this dreadful racket from ruining what is otherwise a very good product? |
