Madness new album - The Liberty of Norton Folgate - stunning.
Anyone else got it - what do you think?
I heard NW5 (a track on the album) on the radio and decided buy the new album not expect anything better than NW5 but it's all brilliant. It's a bit of a concept album and 'listens' like a collection of stories - it's one for the headphones if you know what I mean. Obviously the NME think it's shit but they're clueless. The Times give it 4/5 which is more like it. Me - I think it's like a really dark version of Parklife in a wayit 'feels'...but with a bit of ska and la-de-da type narrative and allsort of other stuff thrown in and yet it's really rather melancholy. for those who've got it - what's your fave track? MK 2 is wonderful, imo. |

Must admit I'd taken my eye off the ball where Madness were concerned - didn't realise they'd released a new album!
See they're reunited with original producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley and most reviews seem pretty good - will have to check it out! Did Suggs ever publish his biography? |

I've not heard the lot of yet, but I do like the tracks I've heard.
Nice to have some new material for the first time since 1999's Wonderful. |

Bought the album yesterday, as a long time Maddie I have to say this is the best album I have from them, superb, fave tracks(so far) Sugar and Spice, Forever Young and the magnum opus that is The Liberty of Norton folgate, I certainly do like a "little bit of this and a little bit of that"

Its ok, Just seen The Specials doing the old 2-tone stuff at Brixton, i think that era was when Madness were at their finest, for me anyway.

as a big madness fan I was a bit dubious about getting this but I'm listening to it right now and I have to say I like it from the few songs i've heard so far .

Woody and Suggs were just on Sky News. They played the singel Dust Devil..which is ok but I don't think it represent the album. Forever Young and NW5 better.
Number 4 on the Amazon album download chart and climbing - deservidly so. |
