Non veggies - how often do you have a "veggie day" ?
It's just occured to me that some weeks I will rarely eat meat.... I can easily go 3/4/5 days without having any at all... It's not a conscious thing either.
I'm not about to turn veggie as I do love my meat - do any other carnivores find they will have unintentional veggie days? Or do some meat-eaters plan meat free days? |

I do admit that my veggie days are often borne out of laziness
![]() I don't go out of my way to prepare a veggie feast - more like I'll bung some jacket spuds in the oven or pick up some falafel and houmous etc from M&S (or like tonight stick a margarita pizza in the oven )

I am the same as pamelaL if Mr Fairy is not around or away for work, or we just clash with our work hours, I don't eat meat.
I am not a big meat fan to be fair. I love lamb and the occassional bacon roll but I hate sausages, chicken, beef, etc. (Although I do love a meat lasagna) I would much rather have the veggie option when I am out for dinner and I almost always choose the veggie option when I am at a wedding - it always kicks the arse off the non-veggie menu! |

I was a veggie until very recently. I have a lot of veggie days now, just because I do really enjoy vegetarian food still.
I could happily go fo a week without meat but I am also enjoying trying meats I haven't eaten for years! |

I too opt for the veggie choices (if we are somewhere that doesn't serve steak that is!!) My best friend went Veggie at the start of the year so when we eat out we tend to go for Turkish or Greek and have a vegeterian Mezze!! I also adore most veggie pasta dishes (penne Aribbiata is my fave!) If we go for pizza again I'll go veggie We have a really posh salad bar near us too which i'll always go veggie!! |

It was never a moral decision not to eat meat, more of a psychological problem that I had with meat being meat, containing grissle and fat and all the 'icky' bits. I think I just needed the time to get over that, which I did. I realised that I did used to really enjoy meat and that I was ready to try again. Sounds a bit random when I write it all down! |

Most days are veggie or at least meat free for me - there's usually one day in the week we'll eat meat - every so often 2 - and one we eat fish. I like cooking veggie food, I don't eat lamb, duck, any game, offal, processed meats aside from the occassional rustic sausage etc.. and I rarely eat meat out because of not being able to see the cut (I have a weird feeling about fatty meat!)
That said I did chicken breasts baked in a spicey yoghurt marinade last night and it was amazing so I don't think I could cut it completely. |

Usually 3 or 4 days. Like a lot of other posters, it's generally the nights when either OH or I are out and we end up eating seperately, so I'll have something easy like soup or a baked potato.
I'd quite like to turn veggie eventually, for various reasons. I've currently given up pork, and am planning to add lamb and beef soon, but will struggle to give up chicken and turkey completely. |

Very rarely - and if I do have a veggie day then it's never a deliberate or conscious act.
A non-meat breakfast or lunch wouldn't bother me at all, but dinner is almost always based around a dead animal. I suppose I was brought up to think that a proper meal isn't a proper meal if it doesn't have any meat. Having said that, over recent years I have tried to cut down on the amount of red meat and increase the amount of fish (which is hard as I'm not particularly keen on fish) |

I have vegetarian days. It is healthier for the body to have more pulses and grains in the diet.
Some days I just eat meat. Some days I eat meat and vegetables. It varies on how I feel. I have a lot of vegetables in the house and a chicken so this week is going to be mainly vegetarian. |

Quite often. I grew up on veggie food so it's completely normal for me. I do love chicken though, eat it most days.

more oten than I used to! Mrs Fluff is a veggie, but I'm not, but I end up eating veggie food more often than not, just because it works out more convenient! Also, Quorn is cheaper than real meat, not to mention healthier, and I quite like the stuff!

I love Quorn.
I was a veggie for 16 years so can easily have non-meat eating days now. (I was put off eating meat when I was training to be a chef, didn't eat it for 16 years but then decided I wasn't going to be gutting rabbits or shoving my hands up chickens bums any more so I may as well start eating it again! Does that make any sense? )I prefer Quorn sausages to real ones as I can't abide finding a bit of gristle, and Quorn mince in spag bol or chilli is lower in fat although I have recently started using turkey mince rather than beef. My favourite veggie meal (and my signature dish when I worked at Carlton TV) was a roast vegetable lasagne. Even meat eaters used to choose that if it was on the menu.

I used to have more before I was married. Hubby is a meat fiend, so meals I would normally have meatless (pasta and suace, omeltte, stir fry) has to have meat in them for him to tolerate the veggies.
I'd probably have about 3 days a week meat free if left to my own devices. |

I think we have a non meat day about 3 times a week, usually macaroni and cheese, or vegetable stir fry or salad and baked potato, I need a break from meat usually, and have recently stopped eating red meat as it seems to aggravate the ibs, so it is mainly chicken and fish based meals we have now.

I don't plan them, but I have 2-3 veggie days a week on average.

I'm not that creative when it comes to cooking so my non veggie days are usually stir frys, soup and beans/scrambled egg on toast. I eat a lot of chicken and quite a bit of fish too. |

I also really notice the difference of the price of my shop when I exclude meat - I can get good fish enough for 4 portions of food for about 5 euros, and for 5 euros can get veg etc.. for about twice that many portions but with meat that would be one meal for 2 with no leftovers, if I was lucky. We're not on a super tight budget but a lot of the time I'll get more pleasure from a nice veggie dish and some good wine bought with the leftover cash!
