Freeview freezing
I have been using a Logik LDR V2 with an RDXS-30 dvd recorder and analogue portable tv for 2yrs without any problems except the odd minor pixelations which I put down to atmospherics.
I use an aerial in my loft which the main tv with integral freeview also uses with no problem. For the last 3 days the Logik freeview pics have been excessively pixelated, frozen & silent on most of the channels. Those that are not frozen have intermittent pixelation and sound loss. I have tried unplugging the unit and then rescanning the channels but this has made no difference. I can't find a reset button anywhere and there is no help in the very brief manual. Any ideas? Cheers |

Could be a lot of things, signal to the aerial being blocked, electrical interference, damaged aerial, damaged aerial cable or perhaps the Freeview tuner is on its last legs. Sometimes a poor aerial cable can cause problems like this if it is moved. I believe faulty signal boosters can also cause problems like this too. I doubt the problem is with your TV but if you have a Freeview box you could connect this up to check.

Thanks for the replies.
The integrated freeview on the main tv is working fine so guess the transmitter is ok. I've tried plugging the STB into the main tv and I get no pictures but all the menus are there, also it won't tune in at all - strange. Back on the original tv I get broken pictures with lots of pink and green. I suppose that means it's knackered and just needs replacing. |

Just tried a brand new STB but that has the same pixelated picture with lots of pink and green on the screen.
I have tried using different scarts and RF leads and still get the same problem yet the main tv with integrated freeview off the same aerial has no problem - except can't record off it hence the STB for the other tv & dvd recorder. |

Aerial in loft has a splitter (been there for a couple of years)
then aerial into SBT, rf & scart to DVD recorder the RF & Scart to TV. Only 1 scart on portable tv so STB goes through DVD recorder. Bizarrely the terrestrial channels have the best reception ever. Had been really poor & unwatchable which was why I had the freeview SBT in the first place. Unplugged everything for the umpteenth time last night and redid the lot. It finds all the channels no problem but the picture is very blocky with lots of horizontal pink and sometimes green blocks covering half of the screen. As far as I know Bluebell Hill transmitter hasn't changed anything. Plus the main tv in the house has integrated freeview coming through same aerial and that's fine. Tried a brand new SBT and got the same problem so clearly the problem is here. The only thing I haven't changed is the actual aerial cable (but if that was at fault why would the terrestrial pics suddenly be fab?) but I'm not in a position to do that! The cable is only a couple of years old though. |

if I was you I would run the aerial to STB and then straight to telly
miss out the dvd recorder as you will be able to record through the scart lead, and at analogue switch off then this will probally be your set up anyway. if the analogue signal is suddenly better then something must be up with your wiring or more than likely is a broken RF cable. try the cables one by to the STB and a scart lead straight to the telly . On the scart channel check the STB picture the cables you get with equipment are usually cheapo ones |

buy a booster (tesco/b&q or online) . pay for a roof top aerial if you feel flush.
Brief answer and I dont mean to appear rude. |

A drop in signal usually makes it freeze or the sound to go out of sync. I find more costly models are more reliable.

I have two free-view boxes (so i know its not the TV) and they have both suddenly stopped working for all bar BBC channels, BBC 1,2,3 and 4 are ok but nothing else works? I use an external aerial - the pics on BB3 and 4 are fine so reception is ok? Anyone else had anything like this ?

A splitter reduces signal.
A booster usually splits and increases signal. Thus if your splitter has no mains supply, replace it with a 2/3 port booster (as cheap as £10) |

Had a tv man out today and he says the signal is spot on, all in the 50's. He was impressed considering the aerial is in the loft, split and not boosted. He said no need to boost or move aerial. He said all cables were fine too.
Also the other tv with freeview on the same aerial is perfect. He can't find any faults and agreed with me that it had to be the STB - except a brand new one did the same thing. Could I have been unlucky enough to get a new STB that was faulty? |

Wondr what 50's mean?
My good signals are in the 90's which I assume is percentage. Try it with the splitter removed on only 1 TV. Are you saying that your TV man never even had a test box? |

Yes of course he used a box which he plugged the aerial into to check the signals from the transmitter.
He (and others in the past) said that signals in the 20's & 30's need boosting but those in the 50's are fine. When looking up the freeview signals on the freeview box those signals are full bars showing strong signals. The same aerial serves the 2nd tv with no problem and had, for 2yrs, provided perfect pictures on the now problem tv so have no concerns with the aerial. |
