Water damaged iphone
looks like my 3 week old iphone is broke due to the very slightest of water getting into it.
Boots up ok (get the apple symbol) but just stays on that screen. No insurance. What options do I have? Do apple repair water damaged phones? If not, would I need to buy a PAYG one as a replacement? Cheers PS. Please be kind with your replies as I am very very pi**ed off at this moment |

You sure you're waiting long enough? It can take a long time to boot. If itunes recognises it then try a restore.
If it is stuck you can try the following: 1) Hold buttons sleep + home untill iPhone turns off; 2) Open iTunes; 3) Hold home button and plug the phone to your computer. The phone will turn on and the iTunes + Arrow + cable screen will appear.; 4) iTunes will recover you phone |

It still amazes me that people have a c£400 device and fail to insure it.
You can get insurance through most bank accounts now i believe, certainly can through barclays |

I know you have said the phone is water damage but if you shine a torch or light in the headphone socket what colour do you see? If it's white then try your luck with Apple, but don't mention water!

pink and white unfortunatley.
Going to leave it a few days and try again. Think it's had it though. Either buy another for £390 or pay 17 months at £30 for nowt! great Wouldn't mind but it was only my pocket when I got splashed with water. Not like I dropped it in a pond or anything |

It's a shame about white and pink!if you feel able to, take it apart so the cover is off then try and dry with hairdryer, not on high heat though or put the phone wrapped in towel near a source of warmth, not too hot though and leave it for a few days. http://www.rapidrepair.com/guides/ip...pairguide.html |

Insurance is not always worth it, for example it would cost around £10 per month on 02 to insure the handset plus an excess charge so if the contract is 18 or 24 months long thats a lot of money. may as well add a few quid to the total and just pop in and buy a new phone yourself!

Move to barclays mate, my account covers water damage and it comes with my current account
The point being insurance within itself is not always worth it, shop around and you may find a good policy like yourself but thats not always the case. I tend to find where you benefit in one area you lose out in another.

My home insurance is with Endsleigh, and they offered to insure it for £40 a year on top of my normal premium, which compared to what O2 were offering isn't bad at all.
