It's the 2G. As for the cheapest place that's difficult as Apple control their prices. Best place to get the cheapest is eBay.

Having just filled up an 8GB with music, Youtube videos, games and apps, I would say go for the 16GB if your budget allows.

May only be possible via a jailbroken iPod. I've got an app "MxTube" that allows copying of youtube videos to the iPod.

You cannot just copy them, ipod keeps a "database" that contains information about the files, so you would need to change that as well. I do not know what apple's recommended way is, but I download videos myself (e.g., with keepvid.com) and then add the file in itunes. Probably there's a faster way. As for applications, one can browse them in itunes shop. I do not think you have to have an ipod to be able to look around there.

Also check out john Lewis. They may be offering free extended warranties as they do on a lot of their electricals.

There is a whole magazine available that lists and describes them all, I noticed it in Tesco last week!

I have 32GB model, more than half of it is already full. Mostly audio with 128kbps, a couple of videos. Depends on you, what you want to have there and in what quality. For me 8 GB would not be enough, but still, it's a lot of space.

well i will have abut 1,000 songs, and maybe a movie or two, and the apps of course

i reckon i will get the 16Gb, cause the 32 is just too expensive,

I've just bought a 32Gb iPod touch from John Lewis. It was £282 with a 1 year guarantee. Not the cheapest place but if anything goes wrong I'll just take it back to the shop.

It has to be said that although it's the most amazing gadget that I own, the battery life when using the WiFi is really short which is a bit of a bummer.

Wifi draws quite a bit of power. It's the same situation with phones and laptops. Just turn it on when needed.
