Has anyone tried a mains conditioner such as the Yello range from Russ Andrews? Did it make any discernable difference to performance? I am particularly interested in whether it cleaned up "noise" on a tv.

My 32" widescreen is a modern and quality telly but even using quality interconnects and scarts I still get artefacts or noise (I'm not sure which) on Sky RGB.

Thanks

I think these conditioners are really only a power surge protector (or is it maybe an Uninterruptable power supply perhaps to allow time to shut down equipment after a mains failure?) is to help remove power surges from your mains supply which can ruin modern sensitive equipment. A lightining strike or electrical interference can cause nasty pulses along the mains wiring, your equipment either picks these pulses up and the equipment crashes (Sky digital box or a PC for example) or worse case, the unit is damaged.

Unless you suffer frequent interference from somewhere, I'd only suggest you get a normal pulse surge protector.A simple plug in protector is about £10 approx. Often you can get a 4 or 6 way power strip with phone surge protection too, which is ideal for PC and digibox.. digiboxes and modems fail due to static discharges on the phone line. I'd recommend some sort or phone and mains protection.

The picture artifacts you see are either: Normal Sky digital artifacts which you see on larger TV sets.... especially on fast moving objects or reds... or you could try and fully screened scart cable which removes interference.

These arnt surge protectors or UPSs, they are mains filters and they clean up the mains power.

Ive not used one but I have heard on another forum that they make a BIG difference, specailly during the day when the mains is dirty.....
