Good point! Even if slightly distasteful!

Just kidding

My hubby was in awe when he saw what they were getting, he studied Scarfe in art college, the man is a legend.

What an honour to have his draw you and in the National portrait gallery. Wow, something you would never forget, and they will be worth ALOT of money.”

It's only the philistines that think it was a crap prize.
I share your sentiments.

Don't worry, I also think it's distasteful, even if it's a valid point!

Most people here completely agree with you. Problem is that none of the candidates seemed to have a clue who Gerald Scarfe is!

Perhaps he's from London Gateway.

Here's hoping they look him up now...

Agreed, an astonishing prize, a possession to be treasured.

No offense to the chosen posters.....but you really have no idea have you. This was a fantastic prize.Gerald Scarfe is World famous artist....and the contestants can count themselves as being very lucky to have had a caricature of themselves with his signature on it.When were all 6ft under the descendent's of Lorraine,Kate and Howard will be turning up on the Antiques Road show with these paintings....and trust me they will be valuable. In my humble opinion this has to be one of the best prizes for a winning team on the apprentice....Well....I`ll change that....This is the best best prize any winning team on the apprentice has ever received. What would you rather have....a 20 minute helicopter ride....which you could buy for yourself anyway....or a portrait by a world renowned artist??

How can anyone say this prize is rubbish???
Saying you haven't heard of Gerald Scarfe says more about you than him.
He is a total icon in the art world. he has designed album covers, animations, ballets, operas and TV credits. I'd willingly snog Debra for in exchange foe a caricature by him.
And I'm gay!

Well, I'm well aware of who Gerard Scarfe is and admire his work enormously, I would have hated the prize.

I'd be happy to win a Scarfe caricature of someone else, but my fragile vanity can't handle caricatures of myself. I almost cried for Lorrainne and even the beautiful Kate seemed to find it a bit traumatic.

You wouldn't be crying when you went to get it valued!

True. I'd probably be able to bring myself to show it to someone if there was the prospect of large wads of cash before me.

But I'd prefer a shopping spree in Tiffanies.

Yeah so world famous no one has ever heard of him
What a waste of a prize. The worst yet.
That Chinese bloke in Picadilly Circus does better pictures than that Scarf bloke.

Philistine Alert

Seriously though, anyone who knows anything about art has heard of him. Just because he hasn't been on 'I'm a celeb'.

And the worst prize was easily the laughter Yoga. That was seriously lame.

Lots of people have heard of him, that's why his work is so sought after, he's massively famous, fantastic prize, although, like LaurieMarlow, I'm not sure my fragile ego could take it *has nightmares about large nose and boobs being caputured for eternity *

Oh please, the man's internationally reknowned. And I'm 20 years old and have no real interest in art.

No one is a very sweeping assumption or are you transferring your own ignorance of Scarfe onto the whole population.

I didn't think Kate was being bitchy. All she said was that Lorraine's glasses are her signature look and Lorraine didn't seem to have any problems with what Kate said. What's wrong with it, I don't understand?

*bangs head against desk in frustration*

If you read back through this thread you'll find that most FMs do have in fact seem to know who Gerald Scarfe is. And even if you personally haven't heard of him or don't like his work, that doesn't alter the fact that this week's prize is very valuable and will one day be a collector's item, if it isn't already. I think it's an amazing prize and, btw, it's a caricature, not a portrait: it's not meant to be perfectly accurate.
