Of all the contestants I thought Ben was the only one that listened to SAS and tried to change his character. He had quietened down from the first few weeks, and this was probably his downfall. He was so grey he'd started to blend into the walls.

Shame because I thought motormouth Debra deserved a frying pan this week. (Youtube lego apprentice FTW).

Although I have been wanting Ben to go for weeks, I really didn't think he deserved to go last night. Debra should have gone, and I'm amazed that she is still in it.

Edit: After reading this thread through more thoroughly, I've decided that Ben did deserve to go, but I would have loved a double firing with Ben and Debra both being shown the door.

I think Ben blew it in the boardroom the moment he mentioned the words "Sandhurst" and "scholarship"! You can only take hearing them so many times and unfortunately they sent Sir Alan over the edge, and it was byebye Ben...

IMO, Ben has ability and potential to do well in business, but he has to lose the cocky arrogant side of his personality.

The regular and tedious bragging about Sandhurst did him no favours. I just knew he was going to play that card in the boardroom to try and save himself.

Interesting that he wants to be a banker. Well, he's almost there already.

The after show missed a trick last night, Sandhurst, the Wooden Horse, they should have had Rolf Harris on standby to appear singing " Two Little Boys".

I agree, Ben = hot air. He has a lot to learn including not bad mouthing others to get himself out of hot water. I felt sorry for him though when it dawned on him that Sirallun was going to fire him. He looked like a crushed little boy then and I wished I could give him a hug.

Debra and Ben both championed the rocking horse and neither of them made a case for any of the alternative items. Debra and Ben both visited the rocking horse supplier, but neither of them negotiated a good price with him. Debra came closest to actually selling a rocking horse, while Ben tried to lie about having negotiated hard with the supplier, only to discover that Siralan had checked up on them and knew they hadn't done anything of the kind.
On balance, I think the right person went.

I think SA was grossly unfair and wrong when he said to James in the boardroom that there isn't a place for nice guys in the business environment ( or words to that effect. )

Business accumen aside, of course there is a place for nice people, people who can people manage, get on with people and yes have a laugh. At the end of the day how long could anyone work for Debra as opposed to working for James? I know which one I'd rather work for!

I think it was becoming clear that Ben invested more time working out how to convince SAS that someone else should go rather than how he could improve.

Before they went in SAS made it clear that he didn't want to hear anything about peformances in previous weeks...something Ben always mentions when he's in the boardroom.

Then just before Ben was about to lie as usual and say he had pushed the Rocking Horse man for a discount SAS said "Ny teh way have checked"...and Ben's face showed that again one of his standard tricks had been taken away from him.

There was also a third instance which I can't remember now but my wife pointed out that you could see from teh look on Ben's face that SAS shot down a standard excuse just before Ben was about to come out with it.

As was said Ben seemed to think that it didn't matter how often he appeared in the Boardroom because he knew he could shout over anyone else and lie his way through. Hardly a good candidate for a top (mid-level) job.

(Plus as I said before SAS is a bit of a reverse-snob, he loves those who rise from the streets and dislikes those who are born rich. So to keep mentioned Sandhurst really doesn't do you any favours)

Either Ben or Debra going would have suited me last night - so I was quite happy with the result.

They are both utterly odious - or at least that's how they come across on the show. Ben was more tolerable on "You've Been Fired" - but then again, most of them do, once they've been fired........

.............. the notable exception to that being the appalling Katie Hopkins - who was every bit as loathsome on That as she was on the programme itself.

You are spot on. I almost knew from Day 1 that Michelle would be the winner in Apprentice 2, Sr'alan loved the fact that she was at one time a check-out girl in a supermarket.

Ben should have gone last night. Don't like Debra but she is better tele, but think she will be gone before the interview stage.

People are saying how nice Ben was on YF. Very true, but such arrogance in a person never really goes away he was just being humble as he probably thinks he can now become a "media star", I think he actually referred to the media at point but could be wrong. I thought he brought nothing to the series, he's just a shouty, stupid and very foolish young man. Could not understand all the love from the YF panel. But hey ....

Might explain why so many companies are failing now too!

Debra was rubbish this and last week. Ben was better in both weeks than her. However what got Ben fired, was his answer to "What can you bring to my company?".

Personally I think Debra should have gone. Hopefully she will next week.

The problem this week was that nobody on the losing team made an obvious mistake.

They took a gamble on the horse. If they had sold just one they would have won the task and everyone would be making them out to be genius.

They didnt. They lost. However I wouldnt called this a mistake. In the past this tactic has proved successful more often than not.

Given this the excuse for firing any one of the three was always going to be pretty ropey. I think SAS believed Ben was a bit young and a bit inexperienced, and I'm sure not many would disagree.

Ben was clearly shocked, outraged even judging by the head shaking.

He came across as thinking he could bulls**t his way to the prize with minimal contribution.

He also took SAS for a fool by lying about trying for a discount on the horse. Never a good move. I believe that may have clinched it between Ben and Debra.

I didn't find him 'humble' on 'Fired'. Less odious yes, humble, not at all.

Absolutely, he did next to nothing in Margate and other than put on a country jacket to look posh at the baby exhibition he did jack all this episode too! But to be honest I was reallly suprised that Debra didnt go especially after SAS said these two arent your biggest fans!

Debra also said they tried to get a discount, it wasnt just Ben. I am guessing they both lied, or they tried, but not hard enough.

I agree. Clearly someone who was good at taking orders, but no so good when it came to actually thinking for himself!

Yeah, and Debra backing Howard in the "the blanks are for advertising space".

You can almost hear her brain switch on and spot the wriggle out.

He's probably looking forward to seeing if Debra can acquire any "fans" in the interview round. I know I am!

I cant wait for the interview rounds!

Another reason I was sure Debra was going was because in the last week shes been in the papers with her kit off! Surely she cant have won then! SAS would no way put up with that would he?

They had to agree the price with the man before they went to the show. That's why the team with the £135 buggy couldn't lower theirs to match the £100 one.

Ben was an idiot in the boardroom. He kept repeating stupid cliches like 'I'm a grafter', etc., and then when Sir Alan asked for proof, he just spouted more!

And he blatantly lied, saying that he'd asked the man but the man wouldn't budge.
