All the series so far Chiles has really been giving Ben a lot of criricism but when Ben appeared on the losers show then Chiles greeted him and treated him like a long lost pal and gave him fulsome praise.

Chiles loves to put the boot in when discussing candidates truthfulness so maybe he should look in the mirror and not be so two faced himself.

In the majority of cases, the candidates appear much nicer on YF and make a lot of people warm to them. Chiles probably expects them to be the caricatures that the show creates with the editing but then is pleasantly surprised.

Yes. Given that a couple of weeks ago Chiles said that he couldnt wait to get that 'tosser' Ben on his show and when it happened he was bending over backwards to be nice to him. Two face Chiles - you're fired.

So do I. If someone needs to be taken down a peg or two he will do it. He's not a bit two-faced.

Indeed - it also strikes me as being quite professional that he doesn't slobber all over the female ex-candidates when they come onto the show.

Sometimes I think there's to much kissy-kissy stuff that goes on on TV and it makes a nice change to see him greeting them with a convivial handshake instead!

Is this BBC2 programme filmed just after they have been fired or months later? Forgive my ignorance and naievety in this matter.

It is filmed the monday before the episode is screened.

No, he isn't two-faced. It's show biz and all meant in fun.

The candidates are just characters on the main show who I'm sure have a good laugh and p'take themselves when they see the recordings when they've left.

Oh come on, OP. Of course he takes the p*iss out of the candidates when they're on the show, that's the whole point of Your Fired, pure entertainment.

And as others have said, they all come across as much more normal and nicer off-screen (apart from Philip, he's still a t*wat.) And he doesn't let them off the hook, he shows them the things we've all been laughing/rolling our eyes at and makes them account for themselves on the show. Which they all do with a great deal of good humour imo.

It's all just fun, no reason whatsoever to tear them apart. It's not Newsnight for heaven's sake.

To be fair to Chiles, if he interviewed Ben and his first question was

"Well, Ben, as a complete tosser on the show, do you feel now was the right time to get fired?"

... he wouldn't last long in tv.

I think he gets the balance right. He doesn't rip into them but he does highlight their shortcomings. Ben was honest enough to say he was a bit immature and too cocky. The candidates seem to be far more open and 'normal' when they're on the 'Fired' show. I sense there is lot of false bravado on The Apprentice. I would guess it's a defence mechanism to stop people thinking you're weak.

Meaning that it is filmed some months after the candidate has actually been fired - I think I understand your answer, then.

Which is pretty much what Ben said on the show too.

Chiles is hardly likely to be rude to any of the rejects now is he?

Poor Ben - He started to say why they all talked into the end of their phones but Chiles and the panel cut him short.
Will anyone ever let him finish?

I like chiles to. He doesnt need to stick the knife in, its not that type of show. The YF program is a bit of fun, where the fired candidate can put their view and thoughts of the process forward.

With YF you are hearing it straight from the horses mouth, and not some journlaists twist of what was said in a newspaper or magazine.

I was wanting to know the answer, but your right he wasnt allowed to finish.

I am guessing its because the mike has to pick up the conversation as well. So we can hear both sides of the conversation. So they hold it like that so the phone speaker is near both the speaker and the mike.

Is this Adrian Chiles the one who walked out on the lovely Jane Garvey and their children?

Thanks. That sounds like a good explanation.
