He has to be nice to them as it's a fun , warmish show.
I think he liked Mona as on last week's show as he was very nice to her and almost flirted. Is it just me who is angry that they ahow a longer version on Thursday night? You can't find it on iplayer though. Grrrrrr

Off-topic, below the belt and lots of other things -none good.

I read somewhere that Adrian Chiles is the Frank Bough of the 21st Century. Cheery Sports presenter who converts easily to non sport. The One Show is a modern day Nationwide if anybody remembers that programme in the 70s and 80s.

He is excellent.

It`s usually the panel guests who rip the fired candidates apart.

Bring back Ruby Wax every week !

Chiles is only there to present. he probably has a producer screaming in his ear piece "be nice". Nonetheless, the man still looks like a croissant.

But also true...? Maybe it indicates the level of trust we can put in him?

I'll agree it's below the belt, but maybe reminding people that he's not a saint is also important.

Where exactly did anyone elevate him to sainthood?

His TV persona is being discussed here, not his private life.

Don't be such an a*se.

I haven't seen or heard of anyone calling him a saint.

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors in the lives of the majority of well-known figures. I'm sure there are valid reasons for his marriage breaking up and frankly - I don't believe it's anyone else's business except his and that of his wife and family.

As the only people who ever talk about his private life in public are on internet forums maybe it is best left alone.

How are these things in any way connected?

If you separate from your partner does it mean your fellw FMs and the GBP public can't 'trust' you anymore?

Why the assumption that there's something necessarily morally wrong with divorce?

Reminding people that he's not a saint?? What a ridiculous comment.

Because where ever they work will probably be glad to get rid of them .

About him being 2 faced of course he is, but as others have said he can hardly call them names to their face. Anyway any presenter on that sort of programme as well as GMTV, Breakfast, This Morning and The One Show is 2 faced making out they are interested in some people they clearly can't stand, i bet he couldn't wait to complain about Carol Thatcher when he was given the opportunity.

It's called being professional

A bit like Davina on BB; she's never shy of stating who she doesn't like but when it comes to the interview show, she can't show any bias because it wouldn't be right

Sorry, but on reflection, slagging off Ben week after week and saying he couldn't wait to get him on the losers show, and then slobbering all over him when he does come on, means he is two faced.
Also I don't like the intro to the show when Chiles comes down amongst the audience to receive a hero's welcome which is revved up by the asst producers scurrying around off camera.

Except he didn't slobber all over him at all so I don't know what you were watching.

I think you're reading things into Adrian Chiles and his on-screen persona which others can't see....................

I really like You're Fired - it's the sort of programme that reminds you that the contestants are human beings and their personalities are usually exaggerated on the main show, either by editing or by the contestants themselves putting on a persona.

For example, I thought Ben was awful on the main show, but thought he came across as a pretty decent bloke on You're Fired. Chiles just gently takes the mick out of them, which is the way it should be. If he was leading a witch-hunt or whipping the audience up into a frenzy of hate then it wouldn't be so far removed from Big Brother. They're contestents on a reality show, they don't deserve to be humilated after their stint on the show is finished.

It's quite normal really - how many of us say things about people, which we would not say to their face - when we are actually nice to them when we meet them?

You're Fired is basically candidate rehab. It's half an hour for the candidates to try to persuade the viewing audience not to throw crap at them in the street. The show will do everything it can to help them with this, because there's every chance they can be used for media appearances and to "consolidate the brand" in future (Weakest Link, pundit appearances on other shows etc). Pretty much the only exception to this was the Katie Hopkins episode, and she clearly WANTED to carry on being marketed as a villain.

Adrian Chiles' job is to make the contestant currently sat on the panel look as good and affable as possible. Often this will involve slagging off another candidate still on the show, to make the current fired person look as good as possible by comparison. Then THAT person is fired, and the process continues.

I think people need to bear in mind that it's not the case that the main show has an edit and You're Fired doesn't. It does. A very stringent edit. Just a different one. You get barely more of a picture of the "real person" on You're Fired than you do on the actual show.

I don't understand how he can be described as two-faced. His opinions are known by the nation including the candidates. He doesn't say anything behind their back!!

Hehe ... you're not really cut out for this watching telly malarky, are you?

Maybe it'd be better to just listen to some soothing music .. or take up fishing, something like that.

a few years ago, I actually got involved in threatening legal action for remarks AC made, but the truth is that he is a decent presenter. it is his job to help the candidates redeem themselves or at least reduce the harm to their reputation that the editing causes.

I htink he does his job fairly well.
