You should go for it! You don't have to be some kind of academic straight A genius to take part! They are looking for a broad selection of people.

Yes, it's a shameless spinoff, and yes it probably isn't needed, but for 10 people it's a real experience and something impressive to put on their CVs, and even though the show isn't taken seriously, it can certainly lead to oppertunities in the outside world.

Well good luck - you never know whether you will make good TV material until you are on TV!

If I was still 17 I'd probably get on it :P At that age I was still a bit overconfident in myself (but nice about it; I did keep that mainly to myself, not even my gf complained and she was WILY). Also until 18 I got practically everything I auditioned, tried to get etc...

Past year or so I think the motivation to WIN EVERYTHING has just died in me...and I feel better for it on the whole

But yeah, would loved to have done that at that age. Don't think I'll watch it though...adolescents are a different kettle of fish and I can't be dealing with it. I may watch the first and see what happens.

I have seen the CBBC one.

Professionally, over the years - I have delivered training for many groups of people using all sorts of approaches. Invariably I have found that work I have done for the likes of the National Union of Students (generally with younger people - often only 17/18ish) or youth charities has been more productive than working with older, more jaded, less motivated and 'experience'-cocky adults.

Moreover, as a parent I have often assisted within playgroup/nursery/school on trips and days when there are special projects being run. Most young people thrive on the days that the armed forces/a charity/drama group (anything project-led) visit. They work well as teams and are generally more open to developing new approaches and great at isolating the need for aims and objectives.

I think this could be better than vanilla Apprentice...just wish my daughter wasn't a tad too young.

I'll be 18 soon

So I'm too young for the normal one and too old for the Junior one.

This is quite unfair....why couldnt they make it 18???

What I like about the CBBC one is that it doesn't patronise the children - they often win, but not always. So they know that when they do win it's because they were the best.

I can't believe some people are writing it off already without actually knowing anything about it.

The Apprentice has a large following with teenagers so it seems quite a logical step to try a short (which it is - 6 shows I believe) series.

They sound like great candidates and I wonder if that sort of candidate will be pitched against 'street smarts' (think US Apprentice) who dont suit school but may show other talents and strengths.

I applied but didn't get any sort of confirmation email, did this happen for anyone else? Got a bit paranoid my application didn't go through / had the email address misspelled or something.

Nah I haven't had a confirmation email and I applied twice (I didn't put enough about what makes me different on the first one so put it in the second). I did read the rules and it doesn't say anything about not being able to apply twice.

But no, I didn't get a confirmation email either
