i just bought my first mp3 player (its 8 gb)..and i read the two options for how to add music in the manual, the media player one looked more complex, so i wanted to drag and drop but it doesnt seem to be working.

i dont really follow this instruction:Open device to view files using Windows Explorer on initial
connection.

also all my music is in my downloads file. ive no idea how to get that onto the player.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

when you plug the mp3 player into your usb a window may pop up if not then go to my computer and there maybe a icon there that is relevent to the mp3 player. double click on it then thats probably where you would drag and drop the mp3 files to, then go to where you downloads are saved and drag them over.

ok, i think i messed up the albums in my downloads section, i pressed the move to the library tab in windows media and i cant seem to play the albums now, now it says:

the seclected file has an extension (.zip) that is not recognized by windows media player, but the player may be able to play it.

but i wont i pressed yes and i couldnt, what did i do? can i fix it?

These albums you have on your pc where did you get them from cos mp3's should not be .zip files.
Have you played these mp3's before on you pc. The mp3 player will not play zip files.

yeah they were all mp3 files i downloaded online, i think they downloaded in a zip, but the format was mp3 once i unzipped them, i used to be able to play them..

now it wont let me, i dont know if ive changed the program it used to open with accidently?

Did you unzip the files to another folder.Zip files will only open with something like winzip. You need to unzip the downloads to another folder or search for the mp3 files if they have already been unzipped.

yeah ive had most of the music a while, i unzipped with winzip when i first downloaded, and they always played, now they wont, plus the icon next to the name seems to have changed, im sure they were folders before, now they arent...i dont know if i messed with the program that was meant to open them. ive got them on media centre atm..

if the files really are mp3's media player will open them no problem.I think you need to unzip the files but its hard to tell without seeing what your seeing.

have you got the program winzip still installed on your pc.zip files to download music can be dodgy. good chance of having viruses in them.

i couldnt find it when i searched for it before, which is strange cause it was there when i was unzipping recently, so i downloaded the winzip self extractor just before, but im finding that really confusing..doesnt seem to be doing anything.

weird thing is all the single mp3s in the downloads section are fine and i can play them, but i cant play any of the albums atm..

have you tryed to right click on the folder where the mp3 files are and then clicked play in windows media player.

OMG i think i got it..

ok i uninstalled winzip extractor and then installed the regular winzip cause the extractor was annoying me and i couldnt figure out how to set it up, and this one let me extract the files and open it so i got the mp3 files!!!!!!!!!

i dont know where my old winzip went, it was deff there recently

thanks so much for youre help (and patience)

btw now windows media is asking me if i want to sync to the player, should i do that, or just always do it manually do you think?

No problem. I prefer to do it manually. if you keep on downloading zip files i think you are best to virus scan the file first before you open it. I tend to stay clear of zip files if possible.
