Why? Cos there are so many people in this world that are all about ripping you off or bringing you down.
Christina's song is about triumph over such a selfish person, I can relate with that - and I'm sure alot of you guys can, too! [/COLOR]

I would also say the Darkness - I believe in a thing called love. What I dont understand is out of all of the records realeased in a year, how do the final 20 get picked? You didn't have artists like the darkness, and it didn't feature people like Tatu who had a massive hit earlier in the year(surely that should have been in there), but yet still featured westlife with Mandy, a song that had been out for a few weeks, is a cover, and is total, rubbish!

I hope they don't choose on who can perform live on the night. I'd have prefered all recorded performances to rubbish in the studio. And I don't like this thing where they vote 5 off. They could have shut the lines, and had the results for all ten from each region.

Plus there is the thing of the eurovision style voting, even though regions like London and Central are massive compared to others like Channel and Westcountry.

They should perhaps use the actual number of people that voted, and add them all up together, this would make it fairer, and westlife wouldn't have won with this method.

Evanescence- My Immortal.”

That would be on my shortlist, although it'd have to be the album version rather than the massacred radio edit single version. Mad World by Gary Jules and There There by Radiohead would also be on my shortlist. I couldn't possibly pick one, this year has had a fair few good songs.

Shame the actual Record Of The Year contest was dominated by utter crap.

There were some bloody fantastic songs released this year, and whilst I'm disappointed that Mandy won, I have no right to complain because I didn't vote.

It's one thing that really annoys me on here. "How can Westlife have won Record Of The Year?! It's a travesty! I didn't vote but..." - that's always the killer line. I didn't vote. Stop f**king complaining about who won then!!

If you HAD have voted, and all the other people who wanted The Darkness, or Dido, or whoever, to win, then it might well have happened. It's like those who complain about the government but then don't get off their arse to vote.

Anyway, that's off my chest now! I appreciate that noone has complained about Westlife winning on this particular thread but it won't be long before someone does, I bet. And in answer to the question (finally!), my record of the year would probably be Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?. Getting a little tired of it now but it doesn't negate the fact that it was a bloody awesome song and probably my favourite - at the time - this year.

Darkness weren't even nominated, so you couldn't vote for them.
