SE K850i fastport connector playing up.. repair possible?
Hi savvy people..
I noticed when I listen to music on my SE K850i that somehow I only get "half" of the sound.. trying to giggle the headphone connector round solves the problem as long as it's held in that position (obviously impractical as it won't hold in it on its own). Sound is still being transmitted, just half of it (i.e bass and background lyrics rather than bass, drum, main lyrics, etc.). The phone still charges ok. Tested with different headphone connectors and several different charging options. I'm thinking that some part of the fastport connector must be knackered inside the phone.. can it be repaired ? Don't fancy getting a new phone cos warranty has gone by now (got the phone in Nov 2007) And what am I likely to pay.. a tenner or 50 quid? Many thanks..

I don't think it likely that you can replace the fastport without replacing the majority of the phone hardware. I think you just better off getting a new phone.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts just in case?

ok - first off - ALL Sony-Ericcson, Samsung and Nokia phones have a TWO-YEAR manufacturers warranty so you've still got another 6 months yet - don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Second - don't start cleaning contacts unless you are sure you know what you're doing. Best option is to leave it in with a Sony-approved repair centre and let them do it - there's quite a few about - CPW repair centres are ALL SE approved and there's quite a few independent ones too. They won't neccessarily need proof of purchase either, as there's a manufacture date code in all SE's hope this helps! |

I am with Vodafone.. do I need to wlk into their shop and state that SE have the 2 year warrenty on the phone and ask them to have it repaired? I have a hunch they will straight away tell me then to contact SE directly... and contacting SE would probably result in me being told to contact my provider, i.e. Voda..

Only just read this and I'm having the same trouble with my C905
![]() Either connect the headset or the charger and unless the connector is held over then it disconnects, I've been on to "3" and the said take it in to a CPW and they will sort it, will be taking it in tomorrow for a weeks holiday
