Hi all got my hdr today and its great i love it,BUT i just cannot see any differance between sd and hd on both bbc and itv .
I have connected to my samsung lcd via the hdmi cable and its on 1080i.little help please.

How big is your TV and how close do you sit to watch it ?

You are trying to watch HD on the HD variant channels aren't you?

i.e. ITV doesn't have HD all the time, and when it does, you have to press the red button to get it. If you only got your HDR yesterday, I think the only HD prog on ITV last night was Boy meets Girl. The Blues Brothers film this afternoon is in HD for you to test.

On BBC, are you looking at BBC HD Channel on CH108, not on BBC1 on Ch101?

Just a thought.

On my 46" Sony Bravia LCD it's as different as chalk and cheese.

ive been watching bbc hd(108) and itv red button on boy meets girl on boy meets girl i was going between sd and hd and there was no differance at all.

That's why, your TV is so small that even SD has tiny pixels. It's a lot better on a 37" screen and very very much better on larger screens. HD is designed to allow bigger pictures to look great.

your in the west country aren't you cornish? the bit rate for ITV West Country is reported as being higher than other regions and some shows look almost Hd quality dont know why the BBC Hd is not up to standard though

Then - Screen too small/Sitting too far away.

It shows the optimum distance for a 26" TV watching at 1080i/p is 40.8 inches. There will be other opinions on these distances, but 40" and 2/3 metres is a big difference.

thanks for your help,i have been looking to get a larger screen but only a 32 anything else would look daft in my living room.

I have a 40" LCD in quite a small living room (approx 13' x 9'). It looked too big at first, but I got used to it after a while & now wished I had a 46".
