And you called him a cheapskate??

All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey is a sure-fire winner.

In a strange sort of way you have a point.... bought the jewellery, got the nik-naks... just trying to find a few special songs to say i love you..... fancy asking a c*nt like you for help when it's already in my head.

I almost feel embarrased... enjoy christmas with your left hand....

Hey don't listen to the idiot. A personalised CD is a great idea.

Whitney Houston's version - I Will Always Love You
Robbie & Nicole's version - Something Stupid
Spice Girls - 2 become 1 (cheesy but it reminds me of xmas '96)

Give it a go, I'm sure your girlfriend will love it.

Oh and resist all temptation to put R Kelly's Bump n' Grind on there. It's not christmassy and it's not clever! (Well in my experience it normally merits a slap/drink in face/argument)

I used to love making compilation tapes. Jewellery is easy, anyone can do that but you can spend weeks fine tuning a well crafted compilation for someone special. You've got to be careful with these. You shouldn't be too sappy or too overwhelming. Start strong and finish strong and make sure you intersperse it with songs you know she likes (but maybe hasn't got) or it can get tedious. Here's a few of my favourites from way back before my soul turned to sh*t.

The Cure - Love song
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the silence
Lemonheads - Into your arms
John Lennon - Woman
Mama Cass - Dream a little dream
Nina Simone - Feeling good
This Mortal Coil - You and your sister
Gladys Knight and the Pips - Best thing that ever happened to me
The Smiths - Hand in glove
Radiohead - Creep
Aretha Franklyn - I say a little prayer
The Bangles - Eternal flame
INXS - Never tear us apart
Roberta Flack - The first time ever I saw your face
Marvin Gaye - Let's get it on

Forget flowers and chocolates. Say it with a C90.

Well, what might be a good idea is to have songs that mean something t the both of you. Is there any songs that you played like...on a first date or something? Becase I suggest you have those in the list. It also dpends on what sort of music she likes. I myself am into rock music, and if I was to gt a CD filled with soppy love pop songs on I would personally kick the present - giver!!! So, what sort of muic doesshe like?

BTW - I think its SUCH a nice idea that your doin this for her

I think this is a much better gift than anything bought from a shop - it's truely personal

Ooooh! Must be careful with my recommendations here. Depends on what kinda gal she is.

Rock Chick, Girly Girl, Realist, etc...

I think a strong starter would probably be 'Last Christmas' by Wham! - Girly Girls like George & Andrew singing a slightly cheezy but classic pop tune, Realists like it because it's a song about love and rejection, whilst Rock Chicks can take it as an ironic gesture that they can have a laugh at.

All will appreciate the christmas element no doubt (showing extra thought - "Love AND christmas - wow! he must think I'm something special").

Perhaps I should get out more

You could always sing to her! You still have a few days to compose your own music and lyrics and fine tune your performance!

Some great tracks there... anyway - we did Christmas together last night, went out for dinner and then came home where we did the presents and listened to the early hours... as well as....

Tunes went down a treat - so much more personal than anything else...

Cheers all, have a great Christmas.

Here's a BIG tip. Don't juyst pick random popular lovey dovey songs. pick songs that mean somethign to both of you, maybe a song you heard on the radio while you were going out somepalce, a song you danced to, a song from a Cd you bought her, a song by an artist you saw in concert together. And even betetr YOU chose the songs based on the lyrics and pick the ones that sum up YOUR relationship.

Every relationship is different, maybe you've had to spend a lot of time apart so pick songs that sing about that. Maybe you got together after you'd both expereinced pain in your lives, pick songs with that theme. Maybe you have a really silly time together, pick a song that reminds you of that. Only YOu know these things so spend the time and the trouble finding the sogns that express how you feel. if she wanted a love album, there are a million of those put together by record execs. give her one that is entirely you and she'll melt like a snowball in June.

(I made a Cd for my by which included songs by Bon Jovi, country artists and songs form the little Mermaid soundtrack. but each one had a memory or feeling connected with them.)
