I have just listened to "no line on the horizon" and I quite liked it. I think it is the best U2 album for years, of course not as good as their 80's stuff but not bad for middle-aged men.

In the past years people's view on the music of the band has been shaped by their view of Bono who to some people comes across as a bit of a hypocrite with his political views.

I think he is a complete hypocrite but I still like the music of the band. If you hate one aspect of them it doesn't mean that you can't like the other.

our taxes go to charities? i thought we donated money to charities? if he changed residence to avoid tax I dont see how that is being hypocritical to charities?

As fair as i know, i dont think he is hypocritical.... correct me if i am wrong though please but, if he banged on about the poor and needy and didnt do anything about it i would see that as hypocritical. But he does do a lot to help people, so dont despise him just because he is rich too. He odes a lot more than people richer and poorer than him.

I think "Magnificent" is a classic U2-song.

You know nothing. They moved some of their HQ's to the Netherlands to stop paying tax on their royalties. The reality is that U2's business is 90pc conducted around the world. 90pc of the tickets and 98pc of the records are sold outside of Ireland. The band pay taxes all over the world. And like any other business, they are perfectly entitled to minimise the tax they pay.

U2 also contribute a lot of money towards charities and projects in and outside of Ireland so dont make it sound like they have taken food out of starving Africans mouths by switching their finance HQ.

I was never really a fan of U2 or Bono (not my style of music).

The problem is that he's constantly whinging on at the gov. to divert a greater portion of Irish taxes towards developing countries etc., while at the same time diverting his own money from that very tax pool..

So he avoids paying tax on his royalties ? Money that would be used for his homeland ? And I know nothing ? ROFLMAO. Hypocrisy at it's worst.
