Live pause.
I have noticed that some users have reported that when they pause live tv for say 5mins and then resume watching the programme the unit jumps to live tv at the time when the programme finishes even tough you are still watching the buffer recording.
What I would like to know is if this is a fault on all the units or just some and if it is, then is it just a case of rewinding into the buffer to the last place you saw it from? Also I have seen posts saying that when using live pause that the subtitles come up and can not be removed so again does eveyone experience this problem and if so is there a work around? Thanks for taking the time to read this and look forward to your replys. |

(I always use chasing playback so not sure if this one works) |

Thanks for the fast reply Peter05.
I have been keeping a close eye on all the reported problems with this unit and believe I could live with most of them, such as not being able to delete whilst the unit is recording and not being able to record from the buffer, but we do use the live pause quite a lot on our sky+. |

I must admit I thought all units had this problem until I read the above posting. There is some confusion between time shifting and chasing playback. Playing back a recording as it's recording works flawlessly and at least on my stb and every other post I have seen if the programme finishes whilst time shifting, the buffer is dumped and you lose the end
"Normally" you will get dumped to live if watching a programme in TS that you are also recording, when the programme recording ends. You can avoid this if you are on the same channel BEFORE the recording starts, and start TS'ing on this channel whilst the prog is recording. However this does not even work if you have a prog recording on a different transponder back to back with the currently recording prog that you are also TS'ing. i.e when the current recording ends & the new one on the different channel starts, you are dumped. I hope this makes sense, it's quite hard to describe in a hurry (I'm going out very soon !!) Rgds. Les. |

Yes I can see where the confussion could come about. I was talking about relying on the buffer to hold the recording but would it be better to just press the red record button and then the pause so that when I resumed watching I would then be chasing the recording?
I am very close to buying one of these units, I just realy like the idea of Freesat. Many thanks. |

Doesn't solve it for me. Decided to give this a try but found subtitle display was already turned off.

Sorry for my previous quick reply.
Just to clarify; if you use chase play you are 100% OK, you will not get dumped to Live. (unless you catch up with Live, say during the Ad breaks, and then pause Live, and then continue - you are then in TS, and will be affected by that recording ending, or another starting on another transponder). I have tested this extensively with Big-Les on the Humax Freeview PVRs, 9200/9300, but haven't tested every single combination on the Freesat HDR yet. Rgds. Les. |
