Why didn't that young drummer boy get through?

He surely deserved it more than some of the acts that went through, he was very talented and I would have loved to see him in the semi's.

I couldn't believe it either. That kid was excellent he should have gone through to the semi finals at least.

I just think that Simon has an aversion to people who play instruments. But he didn't hesitate to put that violinist through and who played to a very heavy backing track to the point where we couldn't tell when it was her or the track playing. She cleverly chose a piece of music where her bow arm was moving all the time. I think Simon liked her looks more than anything else.

There are very few instrumentalists in the semi finals.

I was really surprised too. Considering the daft acts that did get through.

He was too good.

There seemed to be no logic to it.

Clearly they have to split the acts into broad classifications, something along the lines of

Solo Singers

Singing Groups

Dance Acts

Musicians

General Entertainment

They were clearly overloaded with good dance groups so you would expect some good acts to not go through.

A reasonable number of good solo singers so one or two might go there

Musicians - seemed to be very few only two good ones I can think of

Singing Groups - Not to many good ones there

General Entertainment. Covers a rag bag of acts. Cannot say the standard was high. Quite a few would fal into that classification but very few were any good.

Still does not seem to make sense though as to why so many bad acts went through.

They would struggle to find good ones in that goup though.

I refuse to jump on these band wagons (others include Boyle, Stavros Fatties etc). The drummer was ok, nothing more and would never win anyway.

The drummer boy (what lovely manners he has) - All 3 judges loved, praised, etc - but didn't put him through.

The weird bloke with the "ears" - Simon hated (he's not the only one!) they did put through.

No sense at all.

I totally agree with that. That's one of the acts that I really don't want to see again....it was repulsive. There were a few others that also shouldn't be there, but that young boy had serious talent. What a shame he didn't get selected.

Note: There's already a thread about this topic... Seems like most people agree on this one!

To be fair he is talented but there is not much entertainment value to watching a drummer IMO, especially as far as a TV show is concerned - that is primarily what BGT is.

And the entertainment value in watching Darth whatshisname? Or the OAP breakdancer? Unless the entertainment value is watching him to see whether the old guy will break a hip while doing it? Not quite my definition of breakdancing! Or entertainment.

Exactly.

Maybe they were scared the kid would surpass whoever it is they wish to win the contest. Surely not.

Utter shite some of the acts - The bloke belly dancer (ugh), violinist girl (dull), and Darth Jackson? (wtf) the breakdancer (I don't want to cringe and worry he's going to break something!) Ok drummer boy wouldn't have won, but I wanted to see the limits of his drumming; how much faster could he go.

I say good on the old guy for having a go! But on another level seeing such an old man breakdancing is cringy IMO. Sorry He was only put through because of novelty and being an old guy.

I suspect they didn't put him through because he is neither outstanding nor "interesting".

Because he really wasn't very good... As a drummer I can verify that. Not bad for one year of playing though.

What i loved about the lad was that he was really into to music... he loved it playing it.
That guitarist with his awful bling guitar that couldnt sing got trough...!!
I would have loved to see the lad drumming again...!

And i am sure the Queen would have too... Not a bling guitar being manhandled by a bloke murdering a Queen song!

This is a TV show which is designed to appeal to the mass public which the members on Digitalspy are not an accurate representation of (as is shown year after year in the Big Brother etc forums).

The competition aspect of the show is secondary to making good TV.

You are right but personally I would rather have watched him again rather than Darth Jackson, the OAP, the crappy guitarist, the fat belly dancer and many of the others put through. I take no pleasure in watching people being humiliated in the name of entertainment but probably I must be in the minority.

That old hag with her saggy breasts hanging out was disgusting. As if the Queen wants to watch that.

Choosing her and that ugly bloke with the wide ear lobes who swings dustbins, is a total insult.

yeh i was shocked, especially after the reaction he got from the judges and the audience. he's not the kind of act i find very interesting but he's blatantly got more talent than a lot of the ones who made it through.

My husband said the most torturous the guy with the piercings does is sleep with his assistant.

I have to agree about the drummer boy. It's supposed to be 'Britain's got Talent' not 'Britain's full of freakishly hideous people'. The young lad should've gone through.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 'shock' change of heart by the judges where they visit him and give him another chance to play his drums.

I know, I was really annoyed other rubbish got through but not him. So silly

He's 26, right? She looked about 30 years older than him!
