Charger for Ipod Touch V.2
Tanis
24-05-2009
Hi,

I’m off on my holidays in a few weeks time and will be taking my Touch (v2) with for Music on the beach and Movie on the plane.

I've been looking at in-wall (will use with travel adaptor) charger but would prefer not to spend £20.00 on the Apple approved version.

Have looked on Amazon and the price seems better, but some have mentioned that can damage the Ipod (and ever blow-up)

Does anyone have recommendations on the best charger; otherwise I will have to cough the £20 to Apple?

Something like this will do the job just fine.

Indeed it may do, but let's not forget we are talking about a £160+ investment here, and I personally would never trust a third party charger.

Let's say the unknown name charger causes the iPod to blow up - will Apple cover this? Doubt it. I feel much safer with my official Apple accesories. Expensive? £20? No, I got mine for £16. That's a tenth of the cheapest price of iPod, so which would you rather buy - the charger or a NEW iPod?

That's going nowhere near my £250 Touch. Sorry.

Given the globalisation, they are probably both made in the same factory in China and it's not the most complicated device, but I agree, if you found £250 for the ipod, you may as well cough up another 20 for the charger to put your mind at rest.

Look at the reviews, people have used it with their iPod's without it breaking them. So it's perfectly safe to use with the touch so your point doesn't hold water I'm afraid. Maybe if I'd linked to one with no reviews, then fair enough.

just so the OP knows theres no difference in the charger for 1st or second gen iPod, hell I use a usb lead from a 3rd generation iPod which is about 5 years old lol

also a little bit of info would be helpful.... where are you going? there may be a need for a different type of plug connection

Also I'm not understanding all this talk of I would only go with apple approved stuff...... why fork out so much money for a charger when you could get a third party one for a fraction of the cost? I have used a 3rd party travel charger kit with an old Ipod video and I never had any issues.

after a quick google I found these:
