Ah! That could be why Maybe because she's performed it so many times she doesn't seem to be feeling the lyrics, rather acting them, which doesn't work for me.

The Judy Garland's of this world are few and far between.....

And there we differ, I thought Ruthie's performance was very emotional - the meaning of the song came across in the performance of it. Gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. In the same way the Elaine Paige version of Memory (incidentally OP it is NOT Memories) is so moving - the facial expressions add to the emotion of the vocal. That is what I call a performance!

It's been puzzling me for weeks who this woman reminds me of and it's just come to me - she is a full size version of Jimmy Krankie.

John Sergeant's support came BECAUSE he was vastly inferior to the rest of the competitors. Even I think it's unfair to tarnish SuBo with the same brush.

Voted for her anyway (and Diversity). ”

I was surprised too at the choice of song as it had been touted she was singing 'Whistle Down The Wind.'

Piers Morgan: Well said, I wholeheardely agree with you.

Just thought the odd one of you might be interesting in watching this comparison with other singers that this scientist guy on Ytube did. He reckons the sound of Susan's voice has the ability to make us cry, I think due to electro magnetism, or something like that. But it's interesting to watch.

Works for me - Susan sounds better than most if not all of them

It would have been nice if you'd actually got the song name correct (on the thread title)

It's Memory, not Memories

Seriously, the public didn't think she was that good and neither did the judges - they are protecting her, hence them not commenting on the performance.

There are mature ladies who can sing like Boyle in most holiday camps and church choirs around the country, all BGT have done is add a bit of illusion and glamour around it.

More failed attempts to denegrate the quality of talent that Susan has in abundance.

Why is not thinking Susan's voice is wonderful 'denigrating the quality of her talent'? I don't think her performance on Sunday was very good, you obviously do. We are both entitled to our opinions!
