Be gentle on Susan

After reading the forum tonight, I do think we should be gentle around Susan.

It really is impossible to comprehend the pressure this woman is under. Never before has a talent show contestant been hyped, their performance beamed across the world after one performance. I am not exaggerating when I say my heart was beating so fast before she came on. God knows how she felt.

As for her celebratory dance, we must remember that Susan will be socially awkward. It is not just her being daft or big headed, but she is a woman with learning difficulties who has for her whole life been picked on and laughed at. For the last two years she has lived alone and now the whole world is watching her.

She is finally having her time, and the pressure and excitement is probably overwhelming.

I just hope this story has a happy ending.

Good post and I agree with you. I felt she did well tonight, considering the pressure she must have felt. Being in the spotlight is a massive change to the lifestyle she has been living.

I think I would be confused if people who used to let their kids tease me were now saying how much they loved me and getting my autograph.

People are so fickle...

Well said, Vivadiva.

My heart went out to Susan tonight. It is impossible for any of us to contemplate the huge amount of pressure that Susan is under right now. All the world is watching her. I would be quaking in my boots, and would have likely fainted with fright having to perform live before so many pairs of eyes.

I wish her all the best; that she dreams her dream, and that she has some happiness in life.

What i dread is the media knocking her off that pedestal that they have put her on.

Not to mention her family.....

A thoughtful post OP, and I too hope that things turn out ok for Susan. In any case, the life she has led may turn out to be a good training ground for dealing with the shit she's likely to face.

I am sure she is a lovely person

its just i am fed up of all the hype about her by the media

none of the other acts have been given the build up

its unfair as the media will mean she wins

But remember, as I am sure you know, Susan has nothing to do with this.

And the video did evolve naturally...

She seems to stumble between being over excited and bemused by it all. Good luck to her, i hope it turns out well for her and that she manages to get over the nerves for the final.

Susan was starved of oxygen at birth and this is believed to have led to learning difficulties.

She was bullied at school as a result and only until her fame did the teasing cease...

Vivadiva, message boards can be very negative places at times, and most often do not reflect the public mood in the real world, it can be quite depressing reading the negativity and mean spirited messages on here at times, to read your thread was like a breath of fresh air, thank you very much.
