so we're nearly half way through the year. just wondered what everyones thoughts were on the years best albums so far and the ones they are looking forward to.

for me its

1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz (quite a few people who were fans of their first couple of albums don't like this but I think its a brilliant album)

2. Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream (I'm aware that this album was out in Australia last year but I think it was released over here this year but anyhow excellent pop album)

3. The Horrors - Primary Colours (Vast improvement on their last album even though it sounds a bit more commercial)

4. Franz Ferdinand - Tonight.. Franz Ferdinand (I know loads of people don't care about this band any more but theres something I like about this album, don't know why)

5. White Lies - To Lose My Life (Ok so they're a bit of a Joy Division tribute act but I still like this album compared to most this year)

6. Bat For Lashes - Two Suns (Another solid album and she's different, this generations Kate Bush)

and a few I'm looking Forward to .. Muse, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Paul Banks' solo record, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T and I'm willing to give Linkin Park another chance.

I have to say Lady Gaga's The Fame album is very good and different.

That's a stand out for me so far, great songs, great mix.

Looking forward to Mariah Carey's album actually, i heard she is covering ' I wanna know what love is'.

I'm loving The Enemy's 'Music For The People' at the mo. Can't wait for Kasabian's new album to come out too.

My favourite album of the year (so far) is Bat For Lashes - Two Suns. It's a brilliant album, top to bottom. Natasha Khan's vocals on this album are really impressive, as is her lyrics. I would love to see her perform live.

I agree with every single one you've said.
Primary Colours is so different to Strange House. They've made such an improvement.

Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You
Lady GaGa - The Fame

Probably the best two released the year IMO

1) The Answer - Everyday Demons
A properly good classic-rock album, and even better than their first effort.

2) Heaven And Hell - The Devil You Know
Proof that Black Sabbath with Dio can still belt out some cracking metal tunes.

3) Saxon - Into The Labyrinth
Still as good today as ever.

Franz Ferdinand I agree with.
I'd also like to suggest Cursive's newest album, Mama, I'm Swollen. Well worth checking out if you haven't heard of them.
The Yeah Yeah Yeah's is a strong CD too.
The Airborne Toxic Event (I think this was this year) is a great album.
And my final one from the five is Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band -Outer South.

3. Bat for Lashes - Two Suns
4. St. Vincent - Actor
5. Blue Roses - Blue Roses
6. Mono - Hymn to the Immortal Wind

8. Dan Deacon - Bromst
9. Emmy the Great - First Love
10. Alela Diane - To Be Still

With those on your list I heartily recommend Blue Roses, a young British girl whose just released her lovely debut folk/pop album to glowing reviews and a song of the week on Radio 2 .

"Kingdom of Rust" by Doves is the only ***** album of the year so far. The new Kasabian one sounds promising.

Kelly Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted is probably my favourite released thus far...
Going by UK release, The Fame - Lady GaGa
It's Not Me, It's You - Lily Allen
It's Blitz - Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Only recently discovered this... so good.
Need to listen to the new Franz record and looking forward to Kasabians... Muse... Mariah... new Madonna tracks etc
