Which is better? Are ther any differences except for the keyboard?

I think they are both quad band so does that mean it will work on the '3' network too?

Aren't all the Andriod phones network specific? The original one is on T-Mobile, I think the Magic is on Orange?

The Magic is on Vodafone, not Orange. You'll find they're both locked into their respective networks. There are undoubtedly ways to unlock them, but I couldn't tell you how well they would work on other unsupported networks.

I guess I should have clarified that I live in Italy and all mobile phones including Google phone and Apple Iphone that are sold here are not locked and can be used on any network (It is the law here) so they can be used as a 'pay as you go too'.

So back to the question, will they work on the '3' network as I believe they are quadband and also which one is better of the 2 HTC google phones?

the vodafone version comes unlocked and the only branding that has appeared on it is the shortcut to live and the vodafone screen on boot up..

THey both however come with the "With Google" branding which means that any features that HTC have advertised for these devices will not appear.

regarding which is the best, i guess thats down to the individual user the magic is touch screen only i dont think there are alot of differences in the 2 but i have not seen the G1.

I have only played with these devices in shops. The Dream feels flimsy with the plastic shell and opening mechanism, but has the keyboard. The Magic feels far better in the hand, mainly due to it being all one piece. But it looks a bit cheap and nasty in the white plastic.

If it were my money and I wanted Andriod? Wait for this:
