Brown rice
Been a long time since I cooked brown rice. Used to hate it but now love it. It takes about half an hour to cook but it's great - kind of nutty taste and really filling.
Any other fans? |

Me! I adore wholegrain rice and don't eat anything other these days! It doesn't have to take half an hour though - rinse then cook and re-rinse in a good amount of boiling water and it can be ready and delicious (!) in 15 minutes.

I am a fan of it too. Has a much better texture and taste than white rice IMO. I buy the boil in the bag ones mind you so I don't make too much and because I can walk away and leave it to cook away
![]() Very nice with some roast chicken chopped up through it and if you're outta time throw in a portion of the Birdseye Steam Fresh vegetables instead of cooking a load of different veg ![]() Very filling and nutritious |

I love brown rice! In fact, I don't see the point of having white rice at all. I don't understand why everyone isn't eating brown rice.

Another good alternative to White Rice is Red Camargue Rice. The lovely Delia has a very nice Rice Salad recipe using this.

It's odd that when you have a chinese or an indian you never are offered brown rice, always basmati.
Wonder why ??? |

Wonder why ??? Brown basmati is still quite rare in the shops, I find. I quite like brown rice, but prefer to soak it for 2 hours before cooking, which makes it more tender.

I really like wholegrain rice when I can get it. Brown is next best. Same with bread.

I love brown rice, find it so much more satisfying than white,
better texture and a nice nutty flavour. Much better for you too, retains much of its natural nutriants and fibre. I usually cook it with a chicken or vegetable stock cube and then stir in a raw egg when it is cooked, let the heat from the rice cook the egg. Yummy, could eat it on its own just like that! (Actually, thats how I had it just a few minutes ago with a chilli.) |
