Sour to sweet?
Sky77
26-05-2009
I was talking to my friend the other day and he mentioned something interesting to me. Now I don't know how long this thing is out or if a simmilar topic has been sent here already but anyway he was talking about this things called miracle fruits. Or something like that. And well interestingly enough they were supposed to make all sour things taste sweet. Now I don't usually buy this kind of storys but he sounded very convincing. Does anyone else have any information about this things? Do they realy work that well? I already did some research and found an article about it on CNN but personal experiences are still welcome since media can't always be trusted =P

I've seen them demonstrated on a few shows such as Market Kitchen, Something For The Weekend and even Graham Norton, maybe J Ross as well.

It was a matter of opinion and also dependent on the individuals taste in the first place.

The main point on MK was that it made a lemon less sour and just about edible.

sounds really odd, I read that tastebuds change every so often, for instance apparently if a baby/small child eats an olive it tastes sweet to them

I've got some at home but not had them yet. You are supposed to be able to eat a lemon like an orange when you take one.

According to Sean Lock on QI the reason toddlers don't like Broccolli or other greens is that they taste overly bitter to prevent them, the species thousands of years ago, from eating poisonous berries and the like.

I haven't looked that up to confim it though

I remember when I was really young absolutely loving sprouts, then all of a sudden hating them, like them now though

Got them off Ebay. Have attached a link below to the seller I got them off, they were the cheapest at the time but worth looking if anyone is cheaper:-
