Is there an Easter Egg in the Foxsat Firmware
grahamlthompson

Hopefully Bob_Cat will come in this one.

We now have 2 posters who have upgraded from 1 cable to 2 cables without following either of the normal way of changing the connection setting (reset or accessing the secret menus). One poster on 1.00.03 is 100% certain that this happened, the other on 1.00.02 is pretty certain also but was not certain of what else he did.

Is there a hidden easter egg in the firmware (perhaps using multiple remote buttons) to cause the foxsat to check and then switch the connection mode without any on screen message. ? If so it would be a neat way of upgrading.

Is there a possiblity of some hdr's doing it automatically (or may be all) if so what circumstances initiate the switch ?

I note 752 Views of this one!! and no-one has replied to you Graham..in 8 Months
Is this your solitary instance of such isolation in nearly 5000 posts?
Well ..I have just found one of my feeds missing after the recent upgrade..
Equally i am sure .with the utmost modesty..
that the majority of normal users would never know if such were the case..
as the Humax is so versatile with one input ..
I am extending your original query..
as i cannot find any specifics that the machine will auto pickup a lost input when re-connection takes place
especially after an upgrade say?

Yep . No one else has posted that the hdr can automatically detect the addition of a second cable. Dozens of postings though from users that have added the second cable and found it did not work and needed to either do the reset or change the connection mode using the secret menu.

I am doing a dish/LNB change, so will be going from 1 to 2 cables, tomorrow. (It went from 2 to 1 without probs.)
In case I am not lucky, Graham, how do we access the "secret menu".
I tried the search facility, but no luck.

David.

PS you've been waiting for a bus for a year & suddenly 2 come by at once !

press menu then scroll down to set-up then park the cursor on freesat tune but don't press ok. press red green yellow blue green yellow blue. (ignore the no-entry sign) select 'antenna settings' and adjust the 'connection type'.

I haven't a clue what these guys are talking about.
FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg_%28media%29

Come on Bob, let us know, is there a game or something else interesting hidden in there somewhere? Maybe a HD version of Egg-Egg?

Undocumented feature in the firmware.

Thanks GC.
I'd been running on one lead for a week HDR still showed two, so no auto-detect.
Now up & running on two, again.

Badvok & myself would seemingly benefit from a FAQ system.
This has been suggested recently on another thread.
The search system seems to have failed me !

LOL, nope not me. I was just having a laugh at the miss-use of the term 'Easter Egg' to refer to a very humdrum hidden feature.
Maybe I'm just old but Easter Eggs to me mean fun, surprises and treats.

It took a hell of a long time to comment (10 months)

You'd have found it more quickly,Badvoc, on a FAQ page.

Slightly more seriously,

I apologise for drifting off the original thread.
But this "secret menu" is a perfect example of obscure info, that is not officially published, but is just the sort of thing that can be very useful to newcomers.

There are also the questions that arise repeatedly.

Is there any mechanism in the forums to produce FAQs ?
