According to the BBC Press Office website: "The CVs of the candidates reveal: a city stockbroker, an award-winning restaurant owner, a qualified lawyer, an aristocrat, a 21-year-old entrepreneur, an ex-professional footballer and a chess champion."

Who is the aristocrat I wonder?

Undoubtedly Pantsman.

Maybe Lorraine, her family are pretty wealthy.

Weren't the 21 year old entrepreneur and ex-professional footballer both Rocky? Though I wouldn't be surprised if some of them claimed to be all of those things!

Howard at a guess

Definitely none of those with regional accents

My guess would be Ben. The one with the scholarship to Sandhurst, don'tcha know?

But Ben would be the 'city stockbroker' wouldn't he? Although at least two of those descriptions refer to Rocky, so I suppose two could also apply to Ben. My money is on Howard though.

I think you're right, he certainly has the arrogance to fit the role.

I don't think its Ben - even though he has a very posh Northern Ireland accent.

His Dad works in one of the big auction houses in Belfast...... hardly the job for an aristocrat (unless of course he owns it (which I don't think he does!)

Howard, I think.

Probably Mona - she is probably some chief's daughter from Tanzania.

Didn't Ben work in a bank - and got sacked?

On the other hand Howard, who seems to be proposed by a few, had a paper round and worked in a fish and chip shop according to his brief bio on the BBC site .

There is no reason why any of these should preclude either Ben or Howard from being an aristocrat.

He worked for Brewin Dolphin, a London-based stockbroker, although he was working in he Newcastle office. He was sacked for telling everyone how he would win TA - and no doubt, several other things (like being a total knob).

Accoding to the Guardian, the aristocrat was Noorul.

I went to school with Howard - he's definitely not an aristocrat.

“Among the others are an arthritic ex-footballer - the appropriately named Rocky - Mona, a Tanzanian beauty queen, and Noorul, an aristocratic teacher ("I talk posh and I look posh.")”

Errrm, Noorul, just because in your opinion you look and sound posh, that doesn't automatically make you an artistocrat!

Well I supose he had to have something going for him

The funniest thing about Noorul was he did not look posh nor talk posh at all. He didn't even have a neutral or RP accent...not that I'm accentist but surely the stereotype of posh people excludes those that sound like Noorul did.

He was really creepy anyway.

IF there is an aristocrat, which may or may not be the case, then I'd go for James or Kate. James as he bumbles about in a Boris Johnston sort of way, and Kate as she seems to act the right way at the right time and say the right ting at the right time.

I can see why folk would say Howard as, for me, he was the obvious one that came to mind...... but I'm going with Kate or James.

James is actually the chess champion.

Can't see anything aristrocratic about any of them. Whether we like them or not, true aristocrats have a certain air about them: an effortless confidence that many people lack. They don't need to resort to mindless, blustering bragging in the mode of Ben. It can't be Kate with that regional accent. James does bumble about a la Boris Johnston - but again the accent is all wrong.

As for Noorul - that accent could never pass for posh.

Nope - the only candidates over all the series I would consider truly posh are Raef and Lucinda - and they weren't aristocrats.

Personally I couldn't care less of their backgrounds. The fact that they have put themselves forward is enough for me. For a start, does it mean if someone is from a wealthy background they stand a better chance of winning? Nah, anyone with the right business sense is going to make it, ime.
