Making the odd ridiculous generalisation doesn't mean you are generally ridiculous.

It was a ridiculous generalisation, though.

I said your generalisation was ridiculous. Don't put words in my mouth.

I respect you Tern, so I will attempt to put this generalisation accusation to rest.

This is the original opinion I posted, which as you can see by Monkseal's response seems to have provoked a rather needless patronising accusation of silliness.

I did not say aristocrats alone exude confidence - I said they have a certain air about them that many people lack. ergo there was no generalisation. I did not suggest that they are immediately recognisable as aristocrats by their social demeanour - indeed I concur that many non aristos from a privileged background also exhibit a similar confidence and social ease - which is why I mentioned Raef and Lucinda when initially making my point.

I believe it's reasonable to judge Monkseal as having misinterpreted my post - a misinterpretation which she then exacerbated with her 'silly and ridiculous,' comments.

Indeed I might have ignored her generatlisation interpretation had she not chosen to accompany her comments in such a patronising manner.

James does bumble about a la Boris Johnston - but again the accent is all wrong.

As for Noorul - that accent could never pass for posh.

Nope - the only candidates over all the series I would consider truly posh are Raef and Lucinda - and they weren't aristocrats.”

Ditto.

See the above.

Saying all true aristocrats have an air of confidence about them is a generalisation. It's also not true. I misinterpreted nothing.

All? Now where did I say that?

You don't have to say "all" for it to be a generalisation. But, either way, the"all" is implied.

Fat people are jolly

Short people have a temper

True aristocrats have an air of confidence

All generalisations.

Incidentally, as this argument (as all dumb Internet arguments do) has now reached the level of stupid semantic back-biting, I am actually done with it.

Shame on you - I would never have thought you capable of such generalisations!

Duty calls and now I've got things to do, people to see.

But thanks for the entertainment - we must do this again some time.

I think Mona - mind you, at least she didn't claim to be an African princess like Lindi last year!

LOL at Harry Hill's response to Noorul claiming he was posh, he talked posh, he acted posh, "You're not posh!"

They all claim to be fanatastic things at the start. All that aristocrat BS means nothing to me.

Remember Lindi last year, and how she went on about how she was descended from "Royal" blood, and was a princess who was fantastic at everything, and then suggested a 24 hour hotline for laundry? And also when she was fired she was shocked SAS couldn't see how special she was?

All that BS about where they come from is really meaningless.

I wonder if all those highly embarrassing statements many of them make as our first introduction to them, are actually taken from part of the selection process. So say something attention grabbing to make your showreal stand out and be remembered.
Unfortunately for some it does that last bit all too well. Especially if you go out early.

The BBC described Noorul as an aristocratic teacher, as in like an aristocrat. Perhaps they were expecting something Raef like. Well no lol
