I was just wondering if anyone knows how difficult it is to unlock one of these? I've had a quick google but all I can seem to find is a website that charges about $40.

flashing will not unlock a phone but it will remove the orange branding.
but i must stress it is not for a begginer to attempt....
there are serious complications if it is done wrong and you will end up with a brick for a phone.
its best to take it too a mobile phone shop and ask them to do it for you,.
i had my nokia n95 unlocked for £25
and my lg renoir done for £30

i will say it again if your not too sure about what it is they are talking about on the flashin tutorial.
DO NOT DO IT......

Cheers for that advice. Unfortunately the Orange locked phone I was going to get off eBay was won by someone else so i'm going to either wait for an o2 locked one or an unlocked one at a price I can afford. Or perhaps even et a different phone. I did have my heart set on this one though

I did ring a couple of mobile phone shops, but one of them could barely speak English, the other said he'd check if they locked that phone and after fifteen minutes waiting on the line and hearing the people working in the shop discussing the United V Barca game and then figuring he'd forgotten all about me I hung up and the final one didn't understand what phone I was talking about until I clarified it about five times then disappeared for a second to check came back and said yes we do and its a tenner. So I didn't really feel too comfortable using one of those and they were the nearest.

The search for lookoutapiano!'s new phone continues

that link will unlock the phone as well as flash it. its all about chosing the right firmware.
the one to chose is the open firmware either eu or gb.
but as a previous poster said if your unsure or dont feel confident then dont use it as you can brick your phone.
