Kate chose the better products and was better in the directors box. Her prsenting was a bit naff but the products she was selling were naff.

I'll agree that the low fat chip fryer was a very good product choice ... but those terrible gold and silver leather jackets? Are you joking?

I find it strange that she zeroed in on the best two products just like that. Out of that whole warehouse she picked the top selling product (the fryer). They travelled up to Peterborough, perhaps on the journey they researched the Internet on a Blackberry for top selling products on shopping channels? I'm not saying it's wrong to do that, it shows initiative. But if this happened it wasn't shown so it's huge bias towards Kate who comes out as shining star. Personally I don't think much of her chances, but as I say personally. Everyone seems to be dismissing James and Lorraine, I don't think James will be the Apprentice (though he is my favourite) but I wouldn't mind placing a bet on Lorraine.

She was hopeless in the director's box. She was not directing which is why the audience were never prompted with the price and contact details for the fryer.

People say that they (price, etc) are on the screen but there's a reason why the professionals keep that information in the 'patter'.

Like other candidates there are places where she would shine in a corporation but I can't see her as AS's apprentice now.

How do we know it was a good product!! They had two expensive products and couldn't sell them. I doubt that going for three expensive products and 1 cheap product would have been a good strategy.

Each one of the finalists has things going for and against them. I don't know who will win.

How true. I can't fathom all the hype surrounding her. I have to give it to her though - she's superb at keeping a low profile. Unlike Yasmina or Debra she never volunteers for the task of PM and unlike Lorraine, she shows no real initiative or insight. Bit nondescript really.

Completely agree though, she would make a marvelous sales girl in a cosmetics department.

Exactly. I think people are underestimating certain candidates i.e. Lorraine and this is seriously misguided!

I believe this comes from their personal preferences. For me, she is not the kind of person I can easily get along with.

Kate - one of the most overrated Apprentice contestants I have seen. Debra and Yasmina are way better.

Margate - didn't she do the pitching and worked with Yasmina on the posters. For someone who did no work, she did a good pitch and Yasmina strangely stayed quiet, when she normally wouldn't stand for that :s Also every single candidate that has left has said she works hard. People may not like her or rate her; but she is hardly someone who does no work.

As for insight; it was her that suggested the product strategy last week and this week. She has got things spot on on several weeks....ie. the budget comment on the cleaning task, the keep it simple on the fitness task. She isn't as strong as Lorraine on that salient point granted. but Lorraine doesn't always get it right and keeps on banging on about instinct. Yet every week she doesn't push something ad then makes out afterwards that they lost for that reason. Even Margaret got annoyed about that yesterday. It got mentioned on the "you're fired" programme. But Kate is up there on that score regarding who is left.

The audience and all the panelists thought Lorraine should have gone, the newspapers think Lorraine should have gone, Howard thinks Lorraine should have gone.....hardly Kate making her a scapegoat. Out of the three, on this particular task, she was the weakest imo and all the panelists opinions, as well as Margaret who observed. Howard didn't get fired for being the weakest. He got fired as SAS made a point he didn't have an attribute he wanted.

How fortunate for Lorraine that it's AS rather than you, the YF panel, the YF audience, Howard or the Newspapers who actually makes the decision.

Yes spot on. I didn't get all the Howard love on the panel and in the studio audience. Yes lovely guy but IMO an easy choice to to over the legend that is Lorraine.

Exactly, SA sets the criteria. It isn't a popularity contest.

He'd obviously be an asset to just about any organisation in a large variety of posts.

I've been banging on for almost the whole series about how he flies too low under the radar for Sugar's liking.

As he said himself, he maintains a professional demeanour and doesn't get into shouting matches and is effectively penalised for that as it make him look as if he lacks passion.

You're right in saying that it is not a popularity contest. But the panel yesterday included Margaret who saw both Howard and Lorraine in action and she said that SAS should have fired Lorraine instead. I don't think that her opinion can be disregarded at this late stage of the competition.

That's why Howard was on YF and not Lorraine.

If Margaret's opinion is disregarded then it is bad news for Lorraine as well. Margaret was her biggest advocate in the boadroom.

She did a good pitch in Margate, but that was about it. Kate should be good at pitching, seeing as she does it in her normal job - it's nothing that takes her out of her comfort zone (conversely she should therefore have given a much better pitch in the catering task). I must admit, I thought that she rested on her laurels in the Margate task - based on what we saw, which is of course limited.


James also made the point (before Kate I believe) about keeping it simple on the fitness task. She was right about the budget on the first task, but she wasn't the only one to raise that point. I think Kate is good, but very over-rated. Her reaction to Lorraine's praise of Howard was very telling; she can't handle criticism - hence all the sulky looks when SA criticises her. I find Lorraine extremely annoying, but I do think that Kate was unnecessarily angry there.


I do agree that Howard should have stayed, and Lorraine should have gone, and if it was my company, that's what would have happened. But it's SA's company and I've long since realised that there's not point trying to fathom out his logic. Out of the three, Howard was the last one who I thought should get fired. I think Kate's cards are marked, I really do. SA is right about one thing - she is not as good as she thinks she is. (But having said all that, I hope Lorraine does not last longer than her)!

True, but it was pretty clear on YF that Margaret no longer held a very high opinion of Lorraine. Maybe Margaret has disregarded her own earlier opinion?!

I am not sure when Margaret changed her opinion. May be she changed it after watching the episode. We will probably know for sure when we see: The apprentice: the final 5.
