Exactly. I work in the media and I know exactly how it works. Apparently the particularly scuzzy journos (mirror, star etc) booked themselves into the Wembley plaza or wherever they are weeks ago. Ever since then they've been camped in the bar all this week offering free booze to all the contestants to try and dig up some dirt.

If people on here criticising Su-bo had an ounce of intelligence theyd recognise exactly what this story is all about. 2 main stories in the news last week. Telegraph with MPs expenses and Susan Boyle.

The star and the mirror dont have the readership to try and take on a story like the MP's expenses so they have to play to their oik readers with the next big story. And if the story doesn;t happen they will make it happen.

That's all it is and I cannot believe that people on here fall for it on essentially a media forum!

I agree - they are extremely insightful and cynical about being manipulated by the media to support Susan Boyle but when it goes the other way they take what the papers say at face value.

Are you serious? Because I've just spent half an hour reading threads on this forum FULL of views exactly the same as yours.

Everyone criticising Susan now for anything other than her voice, which is an observable thing that we can all legitimately have an opinion on, is very much part of a herd. A herd that's been manipulated by a press that wants us to believe she's turned all aggressive and egotistical.

I've seen no evidence of this. None at all. Just an eccentric, slightly simple but harmless old lady with poor social skills who was elevated overnight into an INTERNATIONAL hero, none of which she had any control over or is exploiting, and who almost as quickly has been battered back down to earth, again outside of her control.
