How Could You Break My Heart - Bobby Womack

I've Been Loving You - Otis Redding

I'd Rather Go Blind - Etta James

This is damn near impossible.

Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing is probably up there with the best of them.

Very hard to pick one so I'll pick three:

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
David Bowie - Heroes
The Doors - The Soft Parade

Not much has been released in the last few years that could ever get onto my all-time list!

Hmm... tough choice. But, if I make a few additional restrictions - I'll stick purely to 'mainstream' stuff (ie. ones you've probably heard), AND have been released as a single - then most of the single releases from Prince's "Sign O The Times" are contenders, as is Martine Girault's Revival, and Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy.

But I think the nod (bearing in mind my restrictions) would go to..... Portishead and Sour Times.

Oh, and by the way Markster - please!! Without being too critical, I can point to at least two covers in that list that are poor imitations of the originals.

WOW, this is tough!

I agree that Bon Jovi Livin' on a Prayer is an all time classic but what about Tracy Chapman 'Fast Car', Robbie with 'Angels', or what about The One and Only Chesney Hawkes?!
