What a mess ITV made of their HD coverage of the Champions League Final. HD picture kept breaking up in the first half, and then SD for the whole second half! No apologies from the studio team, yet Sky managed to broadcast the entire match in HD.
When will ITV get it right?!

yes it was the worst case of itv "messi" in up the football ive seen and theyve had some right clangers in the past.

They did say sorry, they said it was out of there control and not to do with them. Me begs to differ though.

There was black lines across the screen in the first half, then we had a studio shot of the presenters, then it went to sd, then it went to hd upscaled, very very very poor !

I think you mean SD upscaled, but I get what you mean anyway.

I'd add my annoyance to the list too. Not a massive footy fan but watched last night. Looked great in HD, but seriously, don't sit there and advertise how freesat viewers can watch in glorious HD when we can't for more than 10 seconds without breakup. And if I wanted to see the presenters clearing their throats and straightening their ties, I'd work in the industry.

Simply shocking. I actually thought my dish had lost its alignment or something. But then watched BBCHD for 30 seconds and realised that ITV were just gloriously rubbish. And whilst we're at it, sort out the red button thing.. As soon as I go into it, I lose my favourites list on the HDR..

How can it be out of 'their control' when sky sports HD feed (supplied from the same source) was in HD throughout without any picture problems at all (had a couple of sound blips though)

Apparently they used different uplinks.

Presumably their choice, therefore not 'out of their control'

Interestingly there is an article in the sports pages of the telegraph basically saying how itv sport coverage has been great with the infamous tic-tac advert the only problem - so obviously they don't regard the champions league final fiasco as 'a problem'
