Hi guys,

get paid from my new job tomorrow and want to take out the £35 iphone contract on o2, before you say, i know the new iphone will be out in 2 months, but a better camera and memory dont bother me. Can i just walk into the o2 store tomorrow morning and sign up for the contract and walk away with the iphone?

I mean do i just fill out some forms then hand over my card and then it gets charged every month? or do i need to wait weeks before i get the phone/contract?

Also, since im taking out the 24month contract, can i change phone after 6 months? like my dad does on his o2 contract?

thanks

you will be billed by direct debit. the card is just used to help verify your name and address.

i don't know exactly what o2's proof of ID requirements are you could look them up. or just take a few things with you. bank statement, debit/credit card, passport, driving licence, utility bill maybe all these things are possible.

don't think the credit check will take long, should be almost instant, so you will have it tomorrow.

you can't upgrade every 6 months no.

if you currently have a PAYG phone you should ask for your PAC code from your current network so you can keep your number. this takes a couple of days to generate usually. so you should ask o2 if they need the pac code straight away or you can give it to them in a couple of days.

Thanks, i dont have any credit cards or utility bills as i still live at home, i have my passport and provisional that i can take, and i will print out a paper bill for my bank account to take with me too just incase.

Silly question but i take it o2 stores carry stock of iphones? and you dont just sign up and they deliver it to you?

Also im currently with o2 payg, and looking to carry my number over onto this contract but dont want it taking days as i need my phone over the next few days. is it instant? or can you use your new number until the old one kicks in?

thanks

when you port a number they give you a temporary number and both will active for about a week, but since you are o2 to o2 they should be able to do it straight away.

they do carry a stock yes.

You don't just go in to a shop and fill out a form, they do a credit check and wether you get the phone is dependant on you passing a credit check.

I know i will pass anyways, i have a steady income and never borrowed money or even had an overdraft before so theres nothing to stop me getting it. will pop in tomorrow morning and see

Believe it or not that works against you.

he's right, there are two main things with a credit check. one is having no black marks and the other is sort of proving who you are.

you've certainly got no black marks, but you will have almost no record at all, which can make things harder. and if you fail you can't re-apply for 6 months. you know if you think about it someone who has a large mortgage and makes regular payments is actually a better bet than little old you who might jack in your new job next week.

being on the electoral role is very important.

Indeed, and the key thing is she has no evidence that if given credit she will meet her agreed commitments.
