I dont see it like that. The "wicked witch" was actually decent and loyal. I like Debra, but she isn't loyal. Both of them would do anything to win this competition and you aren't there to big up others. It's a job interview. And fair play to them imo. Kate has complimented others in the boardroom before when others haven't. Despite her obvious dislike of Lorraine, she still gave a fair assessment last week. And Howard and Kate said the same thing about Lorraine. Lorraine was equally willing to do the same. You only have to look at her interview on the bbc about how Howard was playing a deliberate game.
Debra is someone who is more upfront regarding her dislikes. It's interesting though that she says she doesn't open up to people easily or something, yet Kate and her get on well. I think Kate wants to be seen as unfaltering and non-reactive to situations. She wants to appear as strong as the men and "perfect". It's like switching your true self off and the business person.
Then you see Kate around her friends in the flat and she is this bubbling, outgoing person. There is a work Kate and a play Kate. Same with Debra. She plays the strong, take no enemies, defend her right and win at all costs woman. But you see these rare random moments where she seems quite nice and softer. I'd actually go as far as to say Kate and Debra are quite alike; just one of them is a bit better at tolerating personalities and pretending at the workplace. When Kate pmed her truer personality came out and when alone with Howard, her friend, on the last task, her fun personality comes out. I think she is someone who thinks fun is for home and serious for work. The moment she steps into the boardroom, she lifts her head up and tries not to smile.
The major difference between the two is that I think Kate likes to be popular like the good witch (but isn't evil), but Debra isn't a loner, despite being abrasive. she seemed to get along with Ben and Kate.
