I've been doing some testing of the HDR's AR implementation vs the Humax Freeview PVRs, over on the Humax forum with another poster, creddish, some of you may be interested in the results. Link to the thread here. It's a long thread which started off discussing another AR issue, but the link starts off at the relevant post (it's still a bit long winded to follow for the casual observer, though ).

To summarise, we were comparing results for "Delayed Starts", and the "Late Running/Early Termination" bug present on the Freeview PVRs (and confirming it did happen on the 9300); we mainly used the early evening Soaps for the testing.

creddish also has a Vestel PVR as a reference, which he has previously proved in very extensive testing, and threads, is very accurate in its AR implementation. This was to avoid any obvious differences accounted for by the different Freeview/Freesat EPG platforms.

The upshot was that :-

1. The Freesat/HDR resulted in no "Delayed Starts" (excluding where the broadcaster was to blame with the "start/stop" signals). i.e. a much more logical/accurate implementation of the AR trigger. There were some significant Delayed Starts on the Humax 9xxx PVRs.

2. The HDR does not seem to suffer from the "Late Running/Early Termination" bug of the Humax 9xxx family.

This is good news for HDR owners; Humax do seem to have learned from experiences in this area from their Freeview PVRs.

Nice to start off a thread with some good news

Rgds.

Typo in the Title - 9159 should, of course, read 9150.
