Karen Gillan (no links yet & nothing on the Beeb's Who site either).

"Gillan has already appeared in the drama, having played a Soothsayer in The Fires Of Pompeii in the last run"

I will have to rewatch that

21!!! Good grief, how old do I feel!!!!!

Well, she looks good in that photo, so that will help I guess. I don't remember her in Pompeii, not that, that means anything of course! Billie was an unknown acting wise and she turned out to be a fantastic choice, so ...... Good luck to her.

Well, that evokes a similar response to Matt Smith of "Who?!" bu then again, I doubt I'd have heard of any of the previous actresses to play companions (Billie/Bonnie aside)!

She does look a bit sexy, and I do not remember her in FoP either, so I might rewatch it and see where exactly she comes into it.

She was also in the Kevin Bishop Show. Although you can question the comedy in it, she is clearly a very talented actress.

Even though I don't know her, she looks like a talented actress and I'm glad that they've chosen someone unknown, so no-one can moan and bitch about her

Personally I wish bbc would stop putting young actors in the roles - I much preferred it with Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee etc decent old actors who then also had varied ages for their assistants.

The big question now is what will she be called and will she be yet another London-based character? If the actress is Scottish, that might be interesting. Perhaps RTD's Welsh mafia is over and the Scottish mafia is beginning!

I'm sure Catherine Tate will be glad to know that you think she's young at the age of 41!!
