After the show last night simon was asked what he thought of the show
And he said watch julian smith he is something special.
YES! simon and could it be the reason you want us to watch out for this special talent is because you already know the guy and he has performed professionally before for your record label and also has performed with m people and others.

Simon is so obvious isnt he??

This show should be showcasing new british talent, those that havent got that break to make it, not someone who already has done it all and just wants more and more with sheer greed.
The sob stories this julian is coming out with and saying he just wanted a chance blah blah

He is conning the public

He knew escala as well. I'm sure he's just using it in some cases to get publicity before planned album releases...

Well the only way I can describe juilians music is department store background music, or the type you hear in a lift.
Shaheen is hugely more talented but also has a background of singing and performing so I dont want either to win.

That bloody "lift" music that Julian / Joolz churns out is horrific.

Whether he has an album out or not, I never bought into the whole "poor me" act anyway.

Hate the "music" with a vengeance and not keen on Julian much either.

If Simon Cowell owned Sony Music, he would be a billionaire. He most certainly doesn't and he most certainly isn't.

The chances that he ever came across Julian are miniscule. Julian will have been on the classical side of BMG/Sony/Sony BMG, something that Cowell has absolutely zero association or involvement with. There are only 4 major labels and over the past 5-10 years, tens of thousands of different acts have signed contracts.

Not to mention that we don't even know when Julian released his album. If he released his album with Sony before 2004, then it was a different label to the one that Cowell works with (he was with BMG).

However, if he wrote of his previous experience in his application, then I'd have little doubt that it helped him stand out from the crowd. But it's highly unlikely that Simon Cowell personally knew him or even knew of him.

He is talented, though... but he has been studying it since he was 14, so that isn't surprising. I had piano lessons from 5, you play something long enough you get good enough at it anyway.

He could have contacts who knew him though, a lot of musicians and the like network so if you don't know someone personally chances are you will know someone who does.

Julian isn't classical - sax is more jazz than classical, but it's still part of the same label - I think Syco is a sub-label of Sony/BMG.

As an aside, their classical side is useless... most of their decent recordings are unavailable unless you can pick up a copy Amazon have in stock or a second hand one.

I suppose he is....although it galls me to say it . When compared to Stavros he is an absolute bloody GENIUS

I dunno, it just makes me larf, that this naff Kenny G lift music has been ridiculed for years and apart from a few sales reps in their 50s who play it in the company Vectra, NO ONE ever admitted to liking it.

Now suddenly, coz Simon says so, we are all meant to think its Nirvana reborn or something! No, still shite lift music, this time done by some half decent looking bloke with a penchant for stupid woolly hats.

As far as talent goes, I think Sallie's the best here.

Of course, many of the contestants could have had contacts somewhere or other. They wouldn't even need to know Simon, it could be anyone that works for him or works on the show.

I googled "Julian Smith Sony" and the match that came up was to the Sony Masterworks (which is their classical division) hence why I said that.

Yes, it's all about networking with people, which is presumably why some people go on BGT...
