well he has made 6 million and i think he has incredible talent. God there are so many bitchy people who are jealous in this country
I actually quite like him but tonight there was something not right. For starters, what is it with acts that are signed to Simon and translating songs into foreign languages? He could have sung 'The First Time Ever I saw Your Face' in English and it would still have been beautiful.
I don't know, maybe he didn't have enough warm up or rehearsal time but his voice wasn't quite there tonight.

Good point Gareth~ I never liked his singing voice from day 1 and can't understand why the masses are brainwashed into thinking there is talent where it can only be described as mediocrity, and that's being generous.
I can't stand him either but got a 48 hour ban here two years' ago for comments I made about him. Connie woz robbed!

Whether it's 6 or 60 the point is, in my opinion he is not as highly talented as he is projected to be.
Bitchiness and jealousy has nothing to do with it; I think Pavarotti, Carreras, Domingo, Frangoulis to name afew are highly talented, can actually sing and deserve as many millions as they can rake in.
If you are happy to believe the hype then go for it, not all of us are so easily fooled.

I agree with all your comments, but as far as I could tell in the first few seconds that I saw, he was consistent in the fact that I have never regarded him as a credible voice, in comparison with the great Pavarotti et al.

To be fair though, you're not comparing like with like, those people you name are or were highly trained opera singers. Paul Potts worked in a call centre. If he had been trained from early childhood there's no knowing where he would have ended up.
He is also not claiming to be an opera singer, he has never appeared nor tried to appear, in the performance of an opera. He is simply a singer who sings songs in an opera style and he doesn't do it that badly.
I do think it's unfair though that you seem to think that anyone who likes him is being fooled - heaven forbid we should be allowed to make up our own minds like you have done.

Of course he is not going to be at the same level as Pavarotti, he was a one off. But you cant compare him really to Pavaroti, they have a different style.

You're absolutely right, Potts is nowhere near in the same league, and thats exactly my point too. I do recall him being hailed as the 'next Pavarotti', which is actually an insult to Pavarotti and all the other great singers I mentioned previously.
Of course you are allowed to make up your own mind as is everyone else, I just can't stand how producers, the press etc try to brainwash the masses into believing something that is utter tripe (speaking generally here)- all you have to do is look at the Su-bo situation and now Hollie.

The press, media, TV channels etc compared him to Pavarotti~ the point I am making is that he is definitely nothing like him.
If you belong to that type of class then dont watch reality TV on ITV then if all you are going to do is moan

This isn't "reality television" it's car-crash television if not "exploitation TV". These poor souls are totally deluded in the belief that they have a talent. The only REALITY bit about it is that they haven't got anything remotely like a talent.
However it is ITV so what do you expect.......quality programmes!!!!!
