Why shouldn't child acts be criticised on this forum?

As far as i'm concerned they are just the same as any other contestant on a so called talent show and therefore are there to be commented on.

It's not as if they are likely tto read this forum, especially Hollie Steele who no doubt will be too busy practising her crying anyway.

By this time next week we would all have moved on anyway.

These forums are not real for god sake, just words from faceless people behind their Pc's.

If you really take it too seriously then i suggest you take up knitting and listen to the radio.

I think Hollie has been criticised enough tonight on this forum and don't really see the need for yet another thread.

I think it's comments like that which spark things off, and you know it is.

She might have been wrong, maybe she shouldn't of been given another chance, maybe it was genuine, maybe it wasn't, but there reaction on this forum is silly. You've all called her nasty things, such as a spolied brat. What would you do if your own daughter got called that by a complete stranger?

I'm not defending her, I don't really care whetehr it was right or wrong what happened, she got through, so SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, liked her. She was good, but I did not vote for her. I'm just appalled that people are insulting a defenseless girl.

Maybe it was fake tears, I don't know, but it seems to me that it's quite disrespectful to insult her.

Of course they can be criticised, but I do prefer if it's not just abusive comments.

The show is meant to be a level playing field.

The difference tonight has been below the belt marks vs constructive criticism. If people are respectful in the way they articulate there point, it would avoid degrading the forum into a cesspool of titfortat namecalling.

You should only criticise a performance or a person's behaviour not the person whether it's a child or adult, all are up for discussion.

In my opinion, the ones taking it too seriously are the ones wishing death on a little girl because she got through to the final ahead of one of their favourites.

Criticism is fine, outright vicious and personal comments are not. People are still responsible for what they say, even if they are posting it on an internet forum.

Nobody cares if people criticise a child act's vocals etc. That is not the issue here.

Criticising her performance, fine. Criticising her personality and throwing insults like many are doing on her - NOT FINE.

I didn't like Hollie's performance. It was wobbly and though she is 10 years old I much prefer all the other singers we've had. However I am not so bitter as to deny her the right to a second chance. She asked for it, she was clearly upset. Simon and co would have been criticised if they didn't give her another go, and hey presto they're being criticised because they did.

This place is always the same. Distasteful and nasty comments, being excused by "everyone has their own opinion". Some don't have the place on a public forum when they are threatening, nasty and insulting to a 10 year old girl.

There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but some of the comments have been totally out of order and I don't see how anyone can defend them. Hoping a ten year old girl dies for goodness sake.

It's not necessarily the criticism thats getting people annoyed, it's the downright disgusting abusive comments that most people with half a sense of common decency can see aren't appropriate.

By all means criticise her singing, but having a go at her personally is not on, which applies not just to Holly, but to all acts.

What planet are people on? That little performance was pure Bonnie Langford/Just William factor. Whilst there's certainly no call to be making vituperative comments about her, let's not pretend it was anything other than what it was.

Absoluty not.

If you didn't think it was good, then construct your point - say what you thought wasn't so good, then people are free to agree/disagree and elaborate why they think so. That's called mature discussion, not the namecalling the forum has been plagued with.

The disrespectful posters on here are the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the brain and the size of the mouth.

A lot of elaborate typing and quoting there, but I wasn't referring to her singing.

I think you guys are taking the ott liberal i am so offended route and it's as nauseating as the people you vilify for critisizing Hollie.

I watched the show tonight and i did think Hollie acted like a spoiled brat, but then i had to remind myself she is only ten years old.

But the fact that a child became hysteerical during her performance, cannot obviously cope with the pressure being put on her, and screams hysterically when she may not be given a second chance....... and them when she does go through is again hysterical/upset.....as much as we shouldn't critisize this....this is to be commended?

Simon/Pierce and amanda would have done Hollie a favour had they not put her through tonight....they are subjecting an insecure 10 year old to more pressure and scrutiny and its not right.

But pleease guys get off your high horses, people will react to a screaming precious child on stage....people will get annoyed wiht it....rewarding her for this reaction is wrong.

I blame her mother for putting her in this sitaution - What a horrible mum, hollie is clearly not ready for this
