Why when someone else other than who a certain part of the audience 'want to win' is told they could win, they start booing?

I think it's sad really, that people can't just cheer and enjoy the program while showing their appreciation for the acts that are there for their entertainment in the first place.

Exaclty, they would be the first to moan if it was a family member of there's that were getting booed.
