I did think the same thing, it looked like relief played across her face when it was announced. But I think she just took it very well and was a good sport.

She's been looking miserable all night and if she won then it might have become too much for her. Especially with all the negative press this week.

She was so gracious and a true lady.

She deserves every good luck in the world.

Yep, the relief was all over her face when she lost. I think this result was the best outcome.

I'm proud to be British again!

Very pleased Diversity won!

I think she knew how bad the backlash could've been had she won... the backlash she received throughout this week was only a taste of that. She proved her naysayers wrong though, proved that she is talented and is a lovely woman contrary to the reports. She didn't need the win, her youtube video has been a phenomenon and she will be able to carve a career for herself anyway.

And Diversity were the best act tonight, so I'm glad they won!

I thought she took it really well. My favourites were all in the top three so I was pleased

In a sense, the fact that Susan will never be a winner may only enhance her appeal and add to the story of Boyle.

Very gracious in her defeat. I think she was relieved not to win as she didn't seem to be coping with all the media pressure etc

She came across very gracious today, but then she has to be a nice lady as she does all this voluntary work, just with a rather inconsistent temperament.

Cowell will sign her (as will all the other singers be signed)... I guess.

She was indeed gracious and I think she genuinely liked Diversity and admired their act.

I saw a guy on TV this week who had helped her with her singing and he was saying she is a genuinely nice, caring person and he read out a little note she had written to him saying that he was the first person who she could really call a friend.

I think a lot of people have forgotten in all the excitement that she has had a very lonely and isolated life with no friends at all. For a woman with learning difficulties to get to number 2 in this national competition and sing so beautifully and still congratulate the winners so warmly is miraculous! All the best Susan.

She looked absolutely terrified until the result was announced, it was obvious she did not want to win, I am glad as I think the British tabloids would have destroyed her if she had won.
I thought she had lost her sparkle in tonight's performance, I hope she get's some peace and we see and hear her again soon.

I thought it was the perfect result. Susan coming in second place takes some pressure off her a bit and she will still be successful anyway, even though she didn't win.

She looked relieved, but I wondered where her dance at the end was going when she started flashing her leg off. Ant or Dec (one of the two) seemed to get her off quite quickly after that.

It looked to me like a huge weight was lifted off Susan's shoulders when they announced Diversity as the winners.

Unlike many on here, I was smpathetic toward Susan and wanted her to do well tonight, but I think this result may have been the best thing for her. She has looked terrified everytime she has been on screen for the last week. I think the media hysteria was really getting to her and to be honest, I don't think she could take a lot more. The way she smiled when it was all over looked like a smile of genuine relief, rather than the usual masked disappointment we see at those moments.

Hopefully now the media will leave her alone and she can get back to some kind of normal life, some people just aren't cut out for the kind of scrutiny and criticism she has been enduring.

Diversity were worthy winners, of all the acts they are the ones who really stepped it up tonight and I think it will have a mssively positive effect on their lives. If Susan had won, things would only have got worse for her.

I spent a small fortune [to me anyway] voting for her but when I saw how pleased she was when Diversity won I didn't begrudge a penny.

Now she can take things at her own pace and make some money for her future, I still think she was the best on the night
