Why do I keep seeing threads and comments stating that American's will laugh at us if Susan doesn't win, or what will the American's think? etc

Newsflash! The show is called BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT, a show for British people to vote for whoever the hell they like. American's have their own version of this programme called 'AMERICA'S GOT TALENT' where they can decide what happens.

Just because they had a collective orgasm over Susan on Youtube doesn't entitle them to tell us who to vote for, or even have a say in the contest.

yeah I wouldn't take any advice from a country that recently voted for Kris Allen instead of Her Majesty, Adam Lambert.

I agree OP. I mean they can laugh at us all they want regarding tonight's show, but we will be forever laughing at them for the joke of a President THEY 'voted' for a few years back

Well we can all see who is getting the coverage on the main US news channel sites - and its not Diversity!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31003201/

MSNBC even has a 'was Susan robbed ' forum.

Susan will make millions if she goes to the US.

Duh, because they are America, silly, didn't you know we must all bow down to their greater power? We are, after all, just a tiny little island.

As far as i'm concerned, SuBo can go off over the 'pond' and never return.

And once again... who cares?

Its our show not theirs.

It's the biggest entertainment market, so it matters.

Think Americans will be disappointed that Susan Boyle didn't win.
They loved the whole story and wanted a happy ending.

I laugh at these kind of threads, trying to minimize the obvious importance of the biggest market in the world. Fair enough, you dont care, youre obviously not an entertainer. I can guarantee you any entertainer with any big aspirations, care what they think.
Either way, why is it bad exactly that they are interested in BGT? Does it hurt you that they watch and actually like Susan Boyles?
This statement say more about you than them.

Don't be so insular! This is a small planet and we are all interconnected whether you like it or not.

The Americans will be delighted with the winners as we all are.

The fact that America think we are mad and that their favourite did not win actually makes Diversity's win much sweeter for me. And I was not a Suse anti-fan at all.

Americans are just looks obsessed, its the only reason they made such a big deal over her.

This is a little bit disingenuous don't you think? You all get excited and opine on American Idol, which is made for and marketed to America (Whoa, it's right in the Title just like Britain, in Britain's Got Talent). So why get all upset?

It was a bland overhyped talent show wrapped up in a union jack. It was minor entertainment. I'm seeing it without excitement or frenzy. It was crap, really.

No it doesn't.
Why does it matter?

It should make absolutely no difference to Americans who wins. If they want to sign her up for something then they are completely free to do so without begrudging the actual winner.

'They loved the whole story and wanted a happy ending'

Exactly. They got carried away with a fairytale.
If they want to deal in reality then just give Susan Boyle a real record deal without sticking their beak into our business.

She seems a nice lady and it would be nice if she got something out of it. But I wish some people would stop getting carried away in some fairytale nonsense because that kind of thing seems so patronising, fickle, and temporary until the next fairytale comes along.

I have an idea - if Americans like Susan so much they can have her and we get Adam in return!

The only thing I care about is a misplaced apostrophe. I think this brings great shame to our country.
