In fact, add in Louis Walsh, Ryan Seacrest and Dermot O'Leary and clearly being associated with a talent show means you are probably gay! (Randy Jackson is the exception)

A couple of people have said he's camp, but he really isn't. Not being ultra-macho and being able to have a laugh and play along doesn't make you inherently camp.
